You can use the patch to upgrade any version beginning with 0.6.4a1 to version 0.6.5r1 , just make sure to get the right flavour (hi-res/compressed).
To use the patch, place the .exe file into the game’s root folder and launch it.

I have plans to update the game to the latest RenPy release so it can be run with JoiPlay, and there's another solution in the works, but I can't say for sure if it'll ever work as it's supposed to.
