You can safely delete the GAME files (the .exe, .rpy, and other ones), if you'd like. However, you should keep the SAVE files unless you want to start over from the beginning. And you shouldn't NEED to delete the save files at all.

So, despite there being Patches, we do still need to start a new save for updates?

Hey Byron, Depending on what device you are playing on yes. if you're on windows go to the c drive
c:\users\yourprofilenamehere\appdata\roaming\renpy\insertgamenamehere
appdata is a hidden folder you'll need to type it out manually in the file explorer field. Delete the folder and then make sure you delete the old game folder and empty the recycling bin and you're golden fresh saves no history. You can use this method for any renpy game you have ever played you can also delete the folder entirely to wipe all renpy saves locally stored on your machine. Don't delete the appdata folder ever you'll cause a lot of issues for yourself if you do.
If you're on a mac or android however I have no idea

Question may be a dumb one, can I delete the old files when I download a new update/version?
