It’s officially the start of the summer season, I hope it brings you joy and abundance ❤️
🌼🌸 Beltane celebrates the Celtic god of light Belenus, who holds the sun in the sky and guides it through the day; But holding the sun is laborious and Belenus found himself growing so tired that he fell asleep and the sun slipped from the sky.
The people of the earth knew the sun had to return to the sky, so they began a long night of dancing and singing and stamping until Belenus rose, bringing the sun with him.
Belenus was grateful for the people waking him, so he gave them a gift, a piece of the sun.
Although traditionally Celtic, Pagans from all walks celebrate Beltane as the beginning of summer, holding bonfires, making flower crowns, weaving around a may pole and celebrating the transition from Spring into Summer.
It’s a time to celebrate prosperity, fertility, cleansing and good fortune (and longer days and glorious sunshine) 🌸🌼
