Even if the dead internet theory is true, wouldn’t the bots be instructed to behave in whatever way keeps users on the app the longest? So then it becomes a chicken or the egg question…are the bots making us more hateful? Or are the bots learning from our behaviour on these various apps and mirroring it back to us? Like I come from the Jerry Springer and Maury and MadTV generation so I think most humans have an inherent desire to “other” people that they deem to be beneath them…I also think hating things that are outside of the box has increased in tandem with this preoccupation with nostalgia and remakes in media…it’s like no one wants to consume anything truly novel anymore or the nostalgia is too comforting at the moment"

It's like people pick apart their behavior to justify bullying them while willfully ignoring harmful behavior from those in the oppressor demographics. The isms and phobias are reinforced by convincing ourselves that the targets deserve their oppression, systemically and interpersonally
