May 2024 updates + next CPC project

Hello!!! I apologize for being extremely late with my latest update!!! Ever since I last wrote you all, I’ve been spending every second I could muster awake cramming in as many redraws for the Volume 4 CPC graphic novel, but I still blew way past my deadline 😵‍💫 Thankfully, my new editor / contact at Webtoon Unscrolled very graciously allowed things to be slightly pushed back, and I have finally just turned in everything, whew~~~~ But I thought I'd share a few more of these redrawn panels with you! (They are also available for hi-res download below)

Overall, I feel really relieved that this volume will look on par with the other volumes, which is more than I should have been allowed to do with this one.

I did follow-up about the possibility of hardcovers to my Webtoon Unscrolled contact, and they reiterated the same thing as they did last time, which is that they’d talk to the sales dept :(  But there’s still lots of time, so I’ll continue crossing my fingers and bug them again in a few weeks!

That concludes the last big deadline in my pile of giant overdue deadlines that had been looming over me since the final arc of CPC! 🎉 I’m really tired, but so so excited because it means I am finally free to tackle lots of other CPC-related projects I’ve had on my list for a very long time.

The most important next project is one that some of you have been very kindly asking about: CPC side stories! :D  

I think I feel okay saying this now, but yes! I had always secretly hoped to have CPC be a story that interweaves lots of characters’ interactions and that ends after the dissolution of the engagements. But then after that, to have the story splinter off into individual spin-off short stories centered more around one / a few character each. But I was never sure that Webtoon would ever allow this.

However, they've approved CPC spin-offs to exist in the Daily Pass section, which is why you might have noticed CPC now sitting in daily pass. I equate this to being like a “straight to streaming” type deal haha, which I do admit I am relieved about, because these side stories will be much too chill and boring to compete in the Originals category. But I have also heard that some people very much dislike Daily Pass, which I totally understand too. So I apologize for that being part of the deal.

But yeah, I am so excited to begin developing these, while also making sure I pace myself in a much healthier way. I hope I’ll have some concept art to show you next update about who we’ll be focusing on for the first of these spin-offs! :D

Other than that, I have just a few merch announcements to shout out:

Firstly, an early copy of the CPC coloring book was mailed to me, and it looks really cool!! This is from a collection of various WEBTOON series books from Walter Foster, and you can pre-order them at Barnes & Noble, Target, and Webtoon’s online shop.

I thought I’d share photos to show the nice quality of these books, but I realize my terrible photography skills are not doing them justice :’(  But basically, it's I think 46 illustrations in total, with the full color version on the left, and the colorable version on the right:

Lastly, FigPin released a mystery box of various pins of WEBTOON characters, and Gwen and Frederick are two possibilities! I do think they had a bit of trouble with Gwen’s skin tone ^^; but these all look so cute!! You can get those at Hot Topic or Webtoon’s online shop.
