In this video, Wendell talks about POE (Power Over Ethernet) and explains the awesomeness that can be achieved with it.

You probably won't see many solutions for POE on higher speeds than 1Gbps, since cabling 10Gbps (or faster) solutions rarely, if ever, use CAT cabling (where you have the available/unused pairs).

2020-09-15 17:55:03 +0000 UTCMy favorite aspect of POE are the PD switches. You can power remote switches that can also have POE pass through. I've only seen one gig versions, but it is super awesome because you don't have to pull five ethernet to a busy spot only one in your house. And then you can branch it. At least that's my experience. Both Netgear and ubiquiti have some neat products with PD switches.
