Watch Dogs Legion Preview

Hey all!

The final cut of this is still a few days out, unfortunately.  The script for Watch Dogs Legion ended up being a bit longer than normal (and that's after I decided to excise all the thematic analysis and focus just on the character stuff) and combined with using a new version of Premiere (which I wouldn't recommend) productions' been a bit slower than I'd like.  Still, here's 15 minutes of what's there (or about half of the total script) to prove that there is, in fact, an episode in the pipe that should drop semi-imminently.  The second half of the script kind of breaks into why the proc-gen stories and characters don't function properly, as well as some kind of wanky stuff about single player role playing and where game stories really live.

Once I finish this out I expect December will be a Children of DOOM (It's been a while since we've tapped that series, and I'm eager to move forward with it - Descent will be fun!). I also have a ton of cool games I want to talk about for the next Blips, but it really comes down to whether Cyberpunk releases and becomes a game I urgently need to cover in January for some reason.  Anyways, lots of stuff in the pipe, just not a lot of hours in the day to work on 'em.  More stuff soon!

Sounds awesome, didn’t know you’d be covering Cyberpunk!

I think you'd be interested in Austin Walker's review. He comes to similar conclusions. He felt the fact that anyone could do anything undermined the idea of collective action where it's important that different people are bringing different skills and resources to the team. https://www.vice.com/en/article/pkdy5y/watch-dogs-legion-review

It's definitely something I've seen a lot of people say really casually lately and something I've needed to check myself on. I commented before finishing, now that i'm done the piece is a really great exploration into WD1+2 vs Legion. I also like how you had another spot hilighting 2's (sort of) positive handling of neurodivergence later on. Love your work!

That's a fair criticism, and an ugly miss on my part. I'll be sure to fix it in the final cut.

you say Aiden Pierce is a sociopath as kind of a punctuation to that thought, why claim it's a mental illness that makes him a bad person?
