Watch_Dogs

This month's main episode is Watch_Dogs! It's a game about a guy who gets his niece killed an decides to take out his guilt on everyone and everything he encounters for the rest of his life. I think. Anyways, this is one of the snarkier episodes I've done lately, and for that I apologize. But Aiden's *such* a frustrating protagonist...

That ending monologue, where they have the gall to position this shitheel as literally Batman, is what cemented my wish for Ubisoft to leverage Aiden's tremendous momentum as a giant asshole for the inevitable sequel and make him the antagonist.

I'm not sure why, but I really enjoy hearing Watch_Dogs criticisms. It's not a game I played, but since it was revealed that Ubisoft basically lied about the quality of the game's graphics, I've felt like every kick the game receives is somehow warranted. Adding to that the DLC nonsense and the way Ubisoft makes games according to a single method now, it all feels like some sort of justice that the end result is exactly what it looked like - a cynical corporate AAA game devoid of vision... and I've ranted about the Spider Tank / three cups minigames a lot, it just shows how utterly scared Ubisoft was of not appealing to everyone and anyone, and how insecure they were about the game's main mechanics. "If you find the campaign boring or the protagonist unlikeable, you can always go jumping on flowers!" "No, Ubisoft. That's not what I bought Watch_Dogs for. That's what I buy Mario for."
