Hey!

Image!

Today I've spent most of my time writing a script to handle the materials of imported WoW assets. As you might imagine, most of these use the same textures, so after importing a bunch of models, you end up with lots of duplicate materials. Also, they use Maya's default shaders, which render slower than my renderer's own shaders and are very basic.
My script converts these materials into Redshift materials, checks for duplicates and automagically assigns everything to the correct objects. It also sets up a bunch of necessary nodes to every material, in case I want a surface to be reflective or metallic and whatnot.
This finally takes care of one of the things that annoyed me the most when dealing with WoW stuff. If any of you guys have use for something like this, I've uploaded it here. Select the materials you want to convert and run.

Started working on the background as well. I have a good idea of where I want roads and paths to be. Still very rough, but it's coming along. I'll import some trees next, which will probably prompt more changes to the location of the buildings and the terrain. The bloodelfs are unchanged from yesterday's pic.

Btw, Picarto launched an update today. In the future there will be up to twelve stream recordings available. Unfortunately, the recording of yesterday's stream seems to have fallen victim to this update :|
