Hey,
before animating, I obviously need to decide on a pose. I always dread this step, cause it's just trial and error and you don't really feel like you're getting anything done and then you're afraid to commit, cause you'll be stuck animating this for quite a while and it's all just ugh ...
Maybe you never realized it, but stylized characters like these can be quite restrictive. Poses that work fine in real life, don't necessarily work very well with these characters, cause the proportions can be very strange. The most common issues are legs that are too long and hands that are too big. The former results in awkward poses and the latter can block the view and just generally makes the hands always get in the way.
Anyway, here's an album of various poses I've tried so far. Some of them I tossed right away, some of them are a bit more refined and some are just very strange or forced. The first one, also pictured above, is my current favourite. Haven't yet decided to go with it though.
My criteria for a good pose for this shot are: good/decent view on her butt, face visible, possibility for some rough lovin and a natural/comfortable pose.
