Washes and some details

My friends, the tank is in the process of detail painting! 😁

The washes were so much fun. I used a wash for German Yellow and a Dark Umber wash for the deep shadows and panels. The post-shading helped a lot! It just works so great with washes.

I didn’t have enough energy to finish painting all the details with acrylics, but after these are done I’ll hit the model with rust colored oil paints. As an example, the light colored exhausts are a preparation for the rust treatment.

It’s quite awesome to observe how much sharper the model looks after those washes!

But isn’t it nice to be able to improve even after all these years?

Actual deep gouges in the metal would look absolutely fantastic! Such a shame I didn't notice the effect earlier.

My first plan was to 3D model and print new ones, but then I decided to keep it as much OOTB as possible. But yeah, they are the prime candidates for replacement.

Night Shift

That was just a bunch of random textures I decided to add. Some scratches with a blade, some rounded edges, then a bit of destruction with a rotary tool, some stippled putty... just random fun :)

Night Shift

Decent job on the side scratches, they have a nice depth. I even wonder if it would have looked this good if you have put actual scratches in the platic.

Those colors really pop!!

Loving this one

Looks great. Those exhaust shrouds look a bit solid. Did you think about turning them into proper shrouds with photo etch?

This is such a guilty pleasure watching you work on a Space Marine vehicle.

This is seriously funky. Fantasy with added reality. The rust really looks good against the yellow on this. Pure eye candy

Stunning work! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ†

All that flame-cut metal is really popping. Also, Martin, did you have a reference for the cast turret or did the texture come out of your head? It looks super-realistic and artistic at the same time.
