There was no other way…

My friends, I like to build first, then paint. And I try to avoid anything else, but here… I had no other choice but to paint the interior before continuing with the assembly.

The cabin was maybe the only area where a slightly bigger modification took place - I sculpted a new seat cushion from Magic Sculpt according to references. It was much easier to paint compared to the flat block from the kit 😁

Painting was quick and straightforward. Black primer, Olive Drab from Ak Rc, then faded OD from AK, then one more round highlighted with Buff. Decals, satin VMS varnish, dark wash, some stains and fake shadows with dark streaking grime, some chipping with Rotbraun, and detail painting.

I also decided to attach the windows at this stage. They’re glued with VMS Crystal Clear PVA and should make the masking easier… at least that’s my working theory!

After that I could finish the rest of the cabin, and there was also a bit of soldering on the front grill. Now I want to finish the flatbed + cargo and get right into painting!

There was also some filling with black CA around some seams and panel lines because the cab didn’t fit together perfectly. I feel like the kit is designed well, but perfect assembly would require you to build the same kit twice to know its nuances. I’ve had the same impression with Hobby Boss kits in the past.

But hey, it’s fun because it’s something different!
