This 30mm German autocannon...
Added 2023-07-06 21:16:22 +0000 UTCMy friends, this weapon is just insane. Not the design, although it looks like from the future, but the photo-etched replacement from Voyager. That thing is a model on its own, and it was one of the best exercises in precise bending, soldering, and careful work with superglue.
Also, what a great way to start a new project, right? Straight into the heat of delicate photo-etch! :D This little thing took me an entire afternoon to finish. I hope the turret will go much smoother tomorrow!
PS: that lead wire coming into the muzzle - at first I thought it was a coolant hose, but as it turns out, it's a protective case for electric routing. You see, the muzzle has a sensor that calculates the projectile's velocity, and it can even program the fuse on high-explosive shells. But there's more, each anti-personnel round dismantles into small shrapnel, and even the spread of this buckshot can be programmed. Yeah, I watched one Youtube video and now I'm trying to sound like an expert :D
PPS: The cable is too thick. I should've used 0.5mm instead of 0.6, but I barely managed to route it through the cage without breaking anything... so it's staying there :D
