Diorama, let's go!

My friends, after a fruitful weekend and today spent listening to the soothing sounds of electric hammers I have the basic shape of the diorama.

I actually started by something relaxing and off-camera: assembling the welding rig from Miniart, printing a few more welding bottles, dry-fitting the concrete pole from RT Diorama and scratchprinting a new industrial lamp for it, because the original one was kinda bulky.

The next evening I started preparing the concrete slabs - these are cut from cork sheets. They were textured using acrylic putty and once it was dry, bent and cracked for that sweet, rough texture. Once they were firmly glued to the styrofoam base I laminated the sides with 0.4mm veneer.

After cutting the veneer flush with the terrain I filled the small gaps and blended it with the groundwork - using VMS Smart Mud on the earthy section, and Bergswerk putty on the concrete parts. The back side of the warehouse seems to have a very nice fit with the sides of the diorama!

Now I'm letting the Real Earth from My Garden (trademark) dry until tomorrow. Then I'll add more dirt on the concrete slabs, and plant some tall grass and stuff!

There won't be much work on the ground itself, instead I'll try to focus on cluttering the yard with stuff you'd normally find in such a place. Thankfully, those reference images I uploaded here recently offer plenty of inspiration! :)

Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go! Diorama, let's go!
