Back and engine deck done!

My friends, these post-covid symptoms suck... but apart from that I'm once again able to move furniture and do model stuff!

The engine deck was really tedious. Adding all the missing weld detail wasn't fun. Glad I added half of it years ago! Also, those grab handles were something I wasn't looking forward to. They're made from 0.3mm wire and to ensure every one is placed precisely where it's supposed to be, I made a simple template from a plastic strip. I used this small "square" as aid for the drill, and this way I could quickly drill all locating holes for the handles, but it still took a good hour or two!

The rear plate is, luckily, pretty barren on most of these wrecks. Just the gun travel lock and some small PE here and there. Adding the missing bolt and hinge detail was another discipline, because per the Dragon Black Label standard, most circular details are represented as rectangles going all the way down to the hull.

Well, there isn't much else to show in these 3 photos, but the works can now continue on the turret!

P.S. for hardcore Conqueror fans, there should be two petrol filler covers on the engine deck. Dragon was apparently using the Mk. 1 as reference, and this variant has the filler caps sticking out of the hull behind the exhausts. Mk. 2 has these directly on the engine deck, but because I couldn't find a clear photo of how they look, I went the easier route - no covers are the same amount of sci-fi like made-up ones! :D

Back and engine deck done! Back and engine deck done! Back and engine deck done!
