... and I have Covid! đĨļ
I didn't feel like building another huge model, but this Conqueror has been sitting in my cabinet as a shelf queen for years. I started building it a long time ago as a tank operating in West Germany as a part of the British Army Of The Rhine (BAOR), but quickly lost interest because 1) it's not a very exciting subject, and 2) the model is MASSIVE and the Dragon kit (from the Black Label, or Black Plague) series is not great either.
It didn't help that I bought all the available aftermarket for it, including 3 resin figures from Valkyrie Miniatures, and found a very detailed walkaround of the real thing, so I tried to improve it as much as possible. For example, the turret is re-shaped using epoxy putty.
Now I decided it was taking up too much space - a big model on the shelf, and a large kit box in the stash. There are plenty of photos showing these tanks as range targets, some are included in this post, and that's what I'm going for with this model.
So far I fixed the wobbly running gear, gluing everything except the drive sprockets in place, shortening the Friulmodel tracks by one link, and ripped off the fenders, adding only the braces. I need to add the bolt detail there, and then I can move on to the other parts of the hull.
Also, the gun on this tank is extremely long and that would cause problems with the upcoming vignette, so I'm considering swapping the metal barrel for a plastic one from the kit, and cutting it down. After all, photos 3 and 4 show what is clearly a barrel that was cut off using a blowtorch.
My whole body hurts, especially every joint, and I have a mild cough and a headache. Progress might be slower, but steady!
