My friends, I wasn't able to do anything at the workbench during the weekend, so what you see here is a result of Friday and today.
Well, to be fair, most of the "interesting" work was done today. I only managed to carve out the basic shape of the base, cover it with VMS clay, and laminate the sides on Friday.
Today I textured the ground with Real Earth from My Garden (trademark), added the static grass, and started painting.
Taking a similar approach to the previous scene, I primed the grass with mahogany primer, then airbrushed it with Desert Yellow and Dark Yellow from Tamiya. The ground was slightly post-shaded with Buff.
And here's where the magic happened! It was much easier to tone the ground with enamels to the same finish as I achieved on the tank's tracks. Just a generous wash of Earth from Ammo followed by some Winter Streaking Grime for darker stains. Voila, no tinkering around for hours, trying to achieve the same finish!
The creek bottom received some Slimy Grime from Ammo, then I painted the stones with acrylics. The broken tree wasn't primed either, I only gave it a dark enamel wash, then blended Old Wood and Light Mud on top of that... some slimy grime on the northern side to simulate moss and that was it.
I had to pour the resin in the creek today, so I waterproofed the bottom with Still Water. This, once again, messed up my day, because it dried to a milky finish!!! So I partially hid it with a slight overspray of Ammo Shaders. Luckily, no more problems after that.
Water is 10ml of resin and 5ml of hardener, but of course, I didn't use all of it. Because the space is so cramped, I poured it slowly with a pipette. I didn't tint the resin with drops of paint, instead I just dipped an old airbrush needle in Khaki Drab and mixed it into the resin. I think it has pretty nice translucency! It crawled up on the bank like crazy again, so I'll be hiding that tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, the reason I had to get the water out of the way so fast is ice and snow. I'll add some remnants of ice on the bank, and, of course, play around with snow a LOT.
I'm just hoping there won't be any more accidents because the upcoming two weeks are gonna be insane. I won't have anywhere to live except my new studio, and at the same time remove old floors, lay down new flooring, paint some walls, etc. Send me strength, friends!
