New project

My friends, this was an exhausting week, but I managed to complete the video and start a new model the other day. This one is special! It's a 1/48th Pz 38t from Tamiya.

It was built and painted by my friend, the one I refer to as "Airbrushing God" or Guru, and he's also the one who taught me how to sculpt tarps way back in the day. Over the past years he focused more on airplanes and this was his attempt to get back to armor modelling. However, he lost interest immediately after spraying the base coat and wanted to sell the model, so I told him to give it to me, and I'll finish it for him.

First, I had to make new tarps on top of the original ones, because as we both agreed, lack of practice over the years has led to some detrimental results. After priming the stowage (I glued most of it in place), I did some additional post-shading here and there. Here I found that he used Buff as a highlight color for German Grey and it led to some nice, warm tones. You can see the contrast with my shading where I used white as usual.

Then it was decals and winter camouflage. I sprayed it over two layers of chipping fluid as usual, and as it stands now it's just a base for further effects. The inside of the numbers had to be painted with a pointy brush because I only had white decals. And, of course, the rivets received a round of ammo shaders, an airbrushed pinwash of sorts, or an "airwash" :)

So the plan now is to give everything a pin wash with Winter Streaking Grime as usual, this will also act as a dirt pass, and then some subtle mapping with white.

Painting the stowage on this one should be fun!

Also, the figure looks pretty alright considering it's a plastic one. I'll give it a try because I'm curious to see the results.
