Well, it ain't orange anymore

My friends, you've seen a paintbrush telegraph pole, now get ready for a brush gun barrel! The start of the spraying session was a disaster struck moment, because I've run out of black primer! So I had to prime the hull with mahogany brown. At first I wanted to re-spray it with a black paint, but I thought it would be an interesting test to see how different primers affect the color. The difference is more than noticeable, haha!

What you see here is the first layer of post-shading. But I'm trying a different, more radical approach. Basically, what I've noticed on every model - once you play with subtle color shades during your airbrushing, you gotta tread very carefully with the weathering otherwise everything will be a waste of time. So this time I'm cranking it up to 11 in hopes I won't have to hold back with weathering and "ruin" the entire paint job with dust or mud. So instead of a uniform coat of the darkest version of the base color I applied it in this mottled pattern. This will be highlighted to oblivion so the result should be pretty interesting, but also the marbled surface will be subdued. At least that's the theory!

Also, I don't mind having the hull and turret in slightly different shades of green, haha, but again, my theory is that the highlights will unify them.

Also also, the first thing you noticed is the black background, or blackground. I'm trying something that will be easier on the eyes when you're watching the video 😊 We'll see if I'll stick with it or return to white, but the footage so far looks very fancy!

Lastly, check out this cool little label printer! Having nicely labeled bottles has elevated my workbench experience to a whole new level! 😁

Oh, and the most burning question: yes, there are print layers visible in quite a few places. Practically every surface I didn't texture. I'm not too bothered by them, because it's a 3D printed kit and nothing will change its origin, and it's gonna be an interesting challenge trying to "obscure" them with paint effects, or rather, guide the eyes to the more interesting stuff 😁

Also, my friends, tomorrow is my big day, I'm going for an x-ray! I gotta wake up very early, I just wanted to finish the base coat tonight, so I'm going to bed now and I'll get back to you tomorrow once I'm back home! Wish me luck and lots of calcium!

To be fair, when it comes to these experiments and new approaches, I'd sometimes prefer to show the finished result without the "weird" progress shots, haha! But I believe in y'all and I think we've all seen far weirder things in here already 😁 Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot!

Wow. So much interesting stuff. You can already see how the different primers affect the color of the green. Interested to see how you proceed. It's great that you experiment "with us" and don't just show the finished model and say "I did X and Y to achieve this effect." And I freaking love the mottled look. I can see that going down on a "what if" here in my near future. Like the blackground. 👍 Makes everything (colors, details) stand out more. I didn't notice the print layers until the picture of the rear of the turret. Yikes! Another thing of interest with this build. How will you handle that? I'll stay tuned. Finally. Good Luck with the X-Ray!! With the time difference you are probably already done ... but, here's another. Good luck with the x-ray! Do some deadlifts or heavy squats to celebrate. 😄

Wow, the metamorphosis!!! Love what you accomplished so far! Crush it at the doc's!!!
