My friends, I pushed forward and finished the whole model, not just tarps but everything else as well 😇
There are wires on the sides and roof, those were used to hold foliage on the vehicle. Adding these was clear from the very beginning, it's a prominent feature on all Normandy vehicles (Allied included), and it adds additional texture to the model. But I won't add any foliage this time, although it would come in handy for hiding some less pleasant areas 😁 Painting the wire was an interesting experience, but nothing is impossible with some patience, pointy brush, and two Lifecolor rust acrylics.
Painting the stowage after the weathering was finished was a mixed experience. It wasn't easier or harder and the result is pretty much the same. My aim here was to paint and weather them separately, so they wouldn't get buried under a pile of dirt that was applied to the tank. Well, it didn't help either hurt the final look, but hey, you'll never know unless you try it out, right?
The jerry can for water was an unfortunate casualty. Although it's a nice detail, it didn't fit the finished model at all, so it's gonna find its temporary home in a spares bag, and its forever home on another German tank.
Lastly, although I intended to place the spent shells on the ground where it would make more sense, I simply couldn't resist and glued them on the engine deck because they add another color and different texture. It just couldn't be helped 😁
And that's mostly it for now. I'll make the final video and then... maybe figures? Maybe a basic layout of the diorama? Something along those lines 😊
In the meantime, is there any uniform expert who could point me to some good references for SPG crew uniforms? I know most of them were Field Grey, but I saw a few light grey, some almost black like tanker uniforms, also some camo pants, etc. And as usual, I have no idea what's the correct one 🤪
