Damn, this injury is making me slow!

Ma frens, I finally started working on the Somua revival! As you can already glimpse, I decided to paint it completely using the hairspray chipping method, even though this one is going to have a rather complex camouflage. The T-55 gave me enough confidence to try it out on a less beaten-up tank!

But I'm still very slow! Much slower compared to my healthy, peak performance. But hey, I'm sure it'll get better. My plan was to get the base coat chipped today, but as you can see, I still have the entire upper hull in front of me.

The process is the same like on the Syrian tank - mahogany primer, some random overspray with Flat Brown, then two coats of chipping fluid, thin mist of white followed with Sky mixed with a few more drops of flat white, and then of course, chipping with brushes and water.

I paid a lot more attention on the turret compared to the lower hull. Mainly because it was really fun and I started there, having the entire day in front of me. Honestly, I rushed the lower hull sponsons to an extent, but it's not such a big deal because most of them will be covered with darker green and brown camouflage. And of course, with mud and dust. Anyway, I'll continue with chipping on the upper hull tomorrow and my hopes are to spray and chip at least one camouflage paint as well.

This approach is a lot of fun and a breath of fresh air! Can't wait to start chipping the camouflage. Here's my plan - the wide lines on the hull will be sprayed with the aid of masking putty, while the small patches on the turret will be done freehand and "sharpened" by chipping the smooth transitions. The black outlines are gonna be done with a fine paintbrush. Sounds fun, right? 😁

Oh, and of course, I added the missing foundry markings on the hull!

Getting the camo right.... well, that's questionable, but we'll see how it goes 😁
