Mah friends, the barn is ready, and oil paints are truly magical beings! I probably gave it a very rotten look, but damn I really wanted to try all these new interesting techniques ๐There was only one enamel paint used on this project, Slimy Grime for those green mossy areas at the bottom, everything else is just acrylics and oils.
The moss on the roof is Fine Turf from Woodland Scenics sprinkled over PVA glue and then painted with US Field Drab from Vallejo, it gives it an interesting color when some of the green foam is visible through.
At first I wanted to make glass in those windows from regular acetate foil, but I found a set of microscopic glass from Uschi VDR in my closet, it comes with everything you need to make broken glass, and damn that was a great help because I think it brings the whole model to a new level, even if very slightly because it's not the most obvious thing when you look at it.
And finally, I was "bored" (quotation marks because I had stuff to do yet I kept messing with stupid shit) and tried carving bricks directly into the foam. Well, I don't know about you, but to me it seems like a much better technique! Not only it's so much faster, but also more precise and overall it looks more neat. And the process is also more satisfying! So the next building in the Syrian T-55 scene will be done like that!
