My friends, the build is slowly nearing the finish line. Photoetch is always (okay, usually) a very relaxing work for me, but it's a slow process. To put it into perspective, the rear panel and the entire front section on the hull took about 7 hours. Most of the time, it's not just about bending the photoetch into shape and supergluing it to the model - sometimes it needs to be adjusted so it fits properly, or the part is assembled from multiple pieces, and most importantly, it needs to be integrated with the surface so there are no visible gaps. Interestingly, more time is spent supergluing and cleaning off the excess superglue than bending π
But I've got the turret almost done - I'm keeping the hatches until the very end when I assemble figures, and the hull needs some work on fenders, mainly all the tool clamps and other similar stuff.
The Voyager PE set is exactly what we can expect from Voyager - not all parts look better than the original plastic ones, but those that we need fit perfectly without any issues.
Onward to more bending, supergluing and debonding!
