The head is finished my friends. That makes me happy. However the uniform makes me very unhappy ๐ Well, not really of course.
As it turns out, painting small areas such as the head with brushes is fun and efficient. But large surfaces like the rest of the body, that's the exact opposite! Not only it takes very long time to finish each pass over the whole uniform, but also the shading is getting more difficult in some cases. For example - adding large gradual highlights on the shoulders, back and arms requires blending the paint while it's still wet. That's something I haven't considered before, and although I'm sure experienced painters deal with this with no issues, I feel like pre-shading the body with an airbrush would've been a much better choice. To sort of block in the basic highlights and shadows, also make the body gradually lighter towards the upper portion where more light hits, etc.
I'm not even focusing too much on the legs from knees down since this section won't be visible at all. I've just finished adding highlights on the uniform, shadows are next. That's how slow I am at this ๐ I'll be also blending some of the transitions with the main base tone, because some of them are quite rough as a result of my impatience. The base color - dark grey in this case - was mostly lightened with Old Wood and later with Iraqui Sand for the strongest highlights. It's preferable to use warm tan and earth colors instead of greys or whites in order to get that warmer cloth-like look.
