A figure? Hmmm... maybe! I had this Alpine fellow in my stash for a long time so today I glued him together and seems like he might fit in just fine. I'll definitely try painting him 😁If the result is crap, eh, I'll just close the hatch.
In other news, today was productive af. I kicked it off by carving the basic shape of the base, making it as compact as possible without making it cramped like the Sherman vignette (I guess this kind of experience will haunt you forever so you'll always make sure to avoid making the same mistake!) Then I carved the slope - the JT will be backed into someone's backyard, sort of in an ambush position. Carving with the hot wire "freehand" sort of always creates uneven, wavy cut, which I'm gonna use for the basic terrain unevenness.
This allowed me to then form the suspension. I placed the model on the base with suspension "straight", then I marked a few wheels which I left in the "neutral" position, then I removed the locating nubs on the remaining swingarms, fixed them with glue, dry fitted the wheels and pressed against the base.
Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the next cool thing, but yeah, the wheels are again superglued together like on the Tiger and Rutscher, so they can be painted as one big assembly, but they're still removable from the suspension bars! I'll take a picture of that tomorrow.
With that out of the way I spent rest of the evening gluing small details on the model, basically everything that won't be replaced with photoetch and most of the stuff needs adding weld detail, yaaay! Here I kinda appreciated the "Blitz" kit, because suddenly the build seems to be progressing quite swiftly.
And that's pretty much it for today my friends! Let's see what tomorrow brings us!
