Happy Almost Anniversary!

Have I mentioned lately that you're great people? Because, you know. You are. Happy anniversary!

Happy Almost Anniversary!

I've been curious about the practicality of hiking and campaigning in various armor kits. Like in fantasy adventure films (and books) when the characters have to travel long stretches often over rough terrain and harsh conditions. In many of these worlds a bag of holding doesn't exist: so what do they pack, how do they manage their armor and weapons? Basically, would you like to go on a hike and picnic in various armor kits?

After all the commenting and reacting about how movie studios don't due armor justice due to ignorance, production schedule, budget, etc., maybe it would be interesting to save up and go get a properly made and tailored complete armor set just for you that fits just right and lets you do something that would be fun in armor while not feeling like you have been sandwiched between two ill-designed refrigerator doors. I've heard that a man should have a properly tailored suit once in his life, but perhaps the same saying could apply to a lady and her armor? You could then customize the look as you please! My bonkers idea when time, money, and capability are imagined as trivialities...become an inventor and make a skyship! Because reasons!

Walking around Renn Faire, most of the garb with peacetied arms still has noise: leather noises, metal-just-existing noises, and I imagine any of them suddenly being shoved or taking a tumble, and it's loud and flappy and would require great reassemblage toget back into order. Anywhoo, I'd just love to see some real time test of sudden unplanned movements on period kit, possibly also fantasy kit. And ditto on the commentor on YT who thinks that pairing up with the CosTubers near you on this would be hilarious.

Congratulations! I would love to see a video or series about book descriptions of fight or action-scramble scenes, because whenever someone gets tossed around, the author miraculously doesn't have all the stuff on their belt, the dagger in the boot, etc. in mind at that moment, especially if it's a dead of night escapade. I'm always like: OK, but surely, the tankard at your belt and the coin your purse had to jangle like hell and people must be looking out their windows to see WTH is going on now?

There's nothing like being asked for bonkers ideas to make my mind turn on the white noise...

Just remembered that the sharpe series of films have several sword duels throughout if these haven’t already been looked at I can try and narrow down where the clips occur

Mad idea for me: I reeeaally reeaally want to learn blacksmithing... like, reeaally want to... like, to make that my full time job level want to... not that I have a clue how to do that with no savings, an income that barely covers the necessities of living to work and no social life, or life of any kind outside of work (you and the other people I patreon are literally my life outside of work). Mad idea for you: getting to go onset of a film or TV show and work with their fight coordinator whilst doing a BTS/minidocu video on them and the job and the fighters and everything: including a breakdown of the themes of the fight, what it has to portray and what everybody brings to the table.

Also unrelated, but could we start a tab or part of patreon or something where the community can recommend movies/books we like? Kind of like the "things Jill likes" youtube videos, but in written form? Just trying to find new books/movies and feel like this is the place to do it. :)

Would love to see blacksmithing!!! That would be one of the pipe dreams--make fantasy, costume, and practical armor/weapons for TV shows and movies. Also publish a book. So yeah, living vicariously thru you living your dreams, Jill!! Congrats!!! :) It's well-deserved. You give such positive, happy, thoughtful, and kind content to the internet, and definitely make it a much better place. :) Thank you. :) Looking forward to the Mark of Zorro 1949 and love older fights!! I will also watch you do cheese-tasting... ooooh travel could be fun! Like, go to places that inspired books or where movies were shot and talk about them on location. Or interview people who know stuff about those movies/books. Would love interviews/info from your stage combat friends as well. As for suit of armor on a trampoline...just be safe, Jill! That sounds like a way to get injured... Also enjoyed your sewing projects. Basically I will watch you do almost anything lol. Congrats again!! :)

Strange idea - can you make a glass sword that you could use in combat. As for me - want to see if I could write an episode of Dr Who.

The idea of armor+trampoline is wonderful and I would love to see it. Another idea that occurred to me as I was going to sleep and still amuses me at the end of the day: what about adapting fight scenes from favorite books? Using them as examples to show how to use the choreography of the fight to show narrative and character. I'm a writing nerd with theatre always at the back of my mind, so it would be the center of the venn diagram of my interests. (Well, adding some historical cooking/clothing never hurts.) As for my own bonkers ideas, I'd love to write/direct a story and put in up online as ~30 minute segments. Something a little 15-minutes in the future cyberpunk, perhaps? But I'll settle for being able to finish my current writing project.
