Terrain = done

Hellooo friends! The terrain is finished I think. I weathered it completely with enamel paints from the Ammo Heavy Mud and Splashes range. Two were the same as on the Crusader, but I added one darker tone for some of those more contrasting areas.

At first I went with this approach: let's add a light dust tone on the road and darker ones on the sides and be done with it. Easy, right? But it lacked detail, it looked bland. So I took inspiration from Volker Bembennek who's becoming one of my new "role models" (I'm putting it between quote marks because it's not like I'm trying to impersonate his work), and added highlights and shadows to the terrain to bring out the ruts, track marks, etc. I think it looks much better this way, and some of it is even visible with the tank sitting on top 😁

Anyway, now I'll focus on the road signs. After they're done, I'll do some more work on the whole scene, add some random details here and there, etc.

Wish me luck, those signs will be tough!

Your taking to dioramas like a duck to water uncle out standing work my friend

Eric

You mean like a photo taken from afar? Like a whole workbench shot? Or me holding it in my hand? I suppose standalone photos can make it look bigger than it actually is 😁

Night Shift

Thank you for sharing such excellent progress photos. Could I please ask that you sometime sneak in a photo more from 'eye' level? Many times the overall/overhead shots don't give you that 'feel' for the scene. I'm now really looking forward to seeing your sign painting as I think it will certainly make the whole scene pop and crackle. Only one more sleep till this weeks video, The excitement is high :)
