Almost done!

Well my friends, the build is almost finished. I actually assembled the entire turret today. Yesterday I didn't do that much, just the external fuel tank mount and repositioned one towing cable. I just didn't like them so symmetrical, the tank didn't look "natural", so because I already fixed it firmly in place I chopped a few things up and managed to reposition it without any damage. And to make it more unique I scratchbuilt a towing hook seen in a few historical pictures.

What remains now and I'm keeping it for tomorrow because I don't want to rush things are a few cables (mainly the searchlight and also the antenna I think) and a loose hose from the missing fuel tank. There should be an exhaust muffler tucked between the air intake louvers, but it's not so visible so I'm not sure if I'll invest time into it. And then of course some more missing tiny rivets and more gap filling with Mr. Surfacer which I'm keeping for the very end.

And then of course stowage!!!!

All in all, I'd like to have it ready for painting by the end of the weekend. We're having some terrible weather tomorrow so plenty of time to finish it. As you might've noticed I'm taking my time with this one, because it's so different from most of what we've done on the channel and I'm seriously having a blast. Looking back, the Sherman feels more like a chore compared to this one. I'm really glad I chose to build this model.

Hope you'll have a beautiful weekend! More to come tomorrow! 😊

Almost done! Almost done! Almost done! Almost done! Almost done! Almost done! Almost done! Almost done! Almost done!

Thanks!

Glad to hear that! Alex always delivers, I'll be probably cooperating with him again soon on another model.

Looks Great.

Off-topic: Uncle, I talked to your friend Alex at SolidScale and he has made me some *excellent* stencils for my Ryefield FFI Type 87 Kafer. I'm very pleased with the resolution he has managed to cut at. So, thanks for the (Type 5 Chi-Ri) heads-up! Also, I bought his Mickey Mouse ear camo stencils for the upcoming Archer. WNTL? 🙂
