you spend several hours weathering tracks only to make them look the same as they did before you even started π€£
But more seriously, this is the result of todays afternoon. I kinda wanted to start with tracks for no reason (maybe the initial pre-dusting + textured mud combo was too ugly to look at), so the first step was to paint all the polished parts with Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver (this can take longer than one would think), then they received a heavy wash of Aqualine Light Mud (the same used on the T-90 - at first I wanted to use the dry earth, but a quick test on the tank revealed that it would be very similar to the light toned olive drab), and then a combo of Ammo Loose Ground + VMS Pigment Texture, which I just stippled over them for those random, sharp, textured transitions. I also used the Loose Ground as a wash which I applied into those crevices between individual links, which is very important otherwise the track would look very ugly. This is of course not necessary on workable tracks. And of course I had to clean the polished cleats after each layer.
The inner side of the track is still in the X-11 silver base coat, and I'll most likely polish it tomorrow, but it looks kinda interesting. Maybe I'll try putting one track on the tank to see how it'll look and then decide.
That's about it for today, hope y'all had a wonderful weekend!
