Daily update

Well the build is pretty much done!

I still have one small idea to add a few spare links at the glacis plate but I don't have that many left, so... we'll see once the model is painted. I can add them at any point, because as I've seen on Sdkfz 251 photos, they were usually held in place with wire, which is a pretty interesting detail btw. I might also wrap most of the hull in wire at the end, which was done pretty often to hold branches and vegetation on the tank for camouflage... but of course I won't do that because I have no idea how to make realistic branches :) Those are just ideas... most of them don't make it into the final product as you have to see the model evolve as you progress and only then you'll know if it needs something more or it's just right the way it is.

Anyway, I feel quite good about the model, it's definitely great to build something more detailed. I think after that 1/100 IS-2 and shitty KV-220-2 you know exactly what I mean. That means I can't wait to start the painting process, but first, I need to finish the video.

So tomorrow I'll start working on that, 10$ Patrons will have their early video, and I'll make some super-duper-professional shots, maybe tomorrow, maybe on Friday.

Oh and I didn't realise how I made the suspension sit deeper in its travel by accident, but I guess it looks pretty cool, gives the thing a "tired" look lol. (the idler should sit a bit higher off the ground, but not much). Also, did you note that I didn't add any damage to the rubber cladding on the wheels? That's another curious thing, I haven't seen a single 251 running gear having their rubber parts damaged, even on old rusty relics the cladding is pretty much pristine.

I feel the same. At first I liked the empty fenders but now I like it more this way. And painting tools is super fun.

Night Shift

It will be an interesting experience for sure!

Night Shift

Looking good! The tools gave it a nice touch. I think it would look too "empty" without them.
