Another example of painting tracks attached to a model

This model is also a 1/72 and it also had tracks and wheels firmly glued in place while painting. But the biggest difference was those were actually super high quality resin aftermarket tracks so they had tons of detail which also made the snow application super easy. I originally wanted to add snow to the KV-220-2 as well but the track links don't have enough details where the snow could hold.

The tarp was sculpted from rolled two part putty, the same way as I did on the KV-220, just bigger.

May I ask what material you used for the leather cover on the top of the tank?

Maximilian Liebscher

The snow is actually super simple: a homemade mixture of white pigment and baking soda (50/50 ratio) sprinkled with a small brush over each individual track link and wheel and held in place with pigment fixer - that's all! About the photos, yes I could do a couple of videos about them, one about photo setup and the other about post-production, but it's mainly just about having a lightcube, 3 lamps, a DSLR and a tripod. The editing is unfortunately done in a paid software - Lightroom and Photoshop, but I'm sure there are other programs, although I didn't find one as powerful as those two.

wow! so good! love to see the process to get that realistic snow πŸ‘ŒπŸ» kind of off topic, but probably not that off, it could also not be of interest to all your followers but it would be nice if you can share some tips to take good pics of your models? like background, lighting, some minimal camera setup, etc...
