Most people don’t seem to like Donna in this, having just come off of the trauma that is Doomsday, but you clearly get the intention and the subtleties of the episode. I think Catherine Tate does a wonderful job, both of the comedy and the pathos. And the chemistry between her and Tennant is palpable. It helps of course that in real life they bonded as truly good friends. As an aside they have also played opposite one another as Benedict and Beatrice in a stage production of Much Ado About Nothing.
