*TARDIS engines in the background* "You know, I'm starting to really love that sound." God, me too. So much. There's a great line about it later in the show - you'll see. I just want to say that I really value how deeply you pay attention to this show, rather than just absorbing it passively. I think you've developed a deeper appreciation of it than many people do this early on, because of that attitude. It's lovely to see, and I'm genuinely excited to see how you feel about it as time goes on, with different eras of the show, and so on. By which I mean "I have suffered the emotional rollercoaster of this show, now you must suffer too." :D

I love how much you love Jackie, and her relationship with Rose. I've seen other reactors who found her a bit annoying, or thought she was a bit stupid because she didn't always get the "bigger picture" (how could she? she hasn't seen most of it!), or whatever. But I loved her back when I was 7/8 and watched this, and I still love her. She's one of my favourite companion family members from the whole show. She clearly loves Rose so dearly (I agree that Camille does a great job when acting with Billie) but she also makes me laugh quite a few times, and she just feels like a realistic character amidst all this sci-fi. Plus I just love how distinctly (English) working class this first series felt, and she's part of that. She's just a regular person swept up in all this, and I appreciate the realness of her emotional reactions to it.

The "Wilderness years" is how we refer to the period between the old series and this one. It's undoubtedly the most experimental era of Who, and brought so many novels, audio plays and ideas of what future Who COULD be. The Tennant era is as popular as it is because of this. The world has opened up and the strangeness of this show is no longer a creative limitation. Basically David Tennant inherited many ideas and stories that had a lot of time in the oven. This is why in my opinion his era holds such a high place in prestige television of this time.

You're right that you were quieter in this one, but that's okay. For me, personally, I realised that I haven't watched this episode in full since it aired 18 years ago. I was 11. So I was very much in the same head space as you

The "So was I" line just as he's regenerating is so underrated because Nine HATED himself for most of his existence, that he "died" thinking he was fantastic is such growth :')
