Introduction to Qyerath part 2 rewrite.

Since I only got one feedback from this part, and that was that the magic tutorial wasn't really fitting the vibe and would be better as an in story thing later on or a more serious compendium style story. I rewrote and removed that part entirely.
So here is a proper part 2. Hope you all enjoy and comments/ feedback always appreciated.

---------------------

Now back with history! So time passed and with strict guidance from the Great Gods, such as Velex, Rula, Greyoll, Zuthar, Orthus Maul and a few others, and the minor Gods, as well as the primal beasts, the new races of the world were rapidly advancing in tech again! Going from Stone Age to Bronze Age to Iron Age all while they learned more and more about mana and magic and who could use them and new spells were being made by the month! You want me to go into the various kinds of magic? Oh I would love to! But we don’t have time for that. I could go on for two stellar days about how many spells and ways of casting magic there are! You just need to know that magic exists, some people can cast it… uhh I thiiiink with humans it’s every one out of a thousand? Not a lot but that’s a lot of people at the same time!

Anyways. Technology was advancing a lot again, and many books had been preserved about all sorts of things, but not all of it was saved as there wasn’t the Arknet anymore! Plus lot’s of tech was changing a bit thanks to magic. But there was a lot of discord again. You see, technology was advancing quite a lot and in just two hundred years the stone age was already the Iron Age and it wouldn’t be long before guns and other things were reinvented, only with the Dwarves and other species this could quickly turn bad! So some of the Gods that were born before the Convergence took all of the Arknet went off the knowledge that they had learned and the knowledge that Zuthar had passed down… and they decided they really didn’t like how that sounded! The technology of the Golden Age of you humans caused the Scar of Realms after all! So who was to say it wouldn’t happen again but even worse if you got back into the Golden Age in only a millennia at this pace? So a faction of Gods began to form that wanted Qyerath to remain pure of these immense technological advances that also bring about deadlier and more powerful things!

Why did the Gods care? Hmm… that is… I dunno! I have never been a God before, so I cannot tell you how they think. But either way, things were starting to get very tense between the Gods again. Those that wanted to advance the races as fast as they could and remake the Golden Age, and those that wanted Qyerath to stay pure in its own way and advance slowly and with Magic and Tech together, without the… how do you say… weapons race? Race to grab arms? You know what I mean!

The Gods anger with each other slowly bled into their creations, and the different species of the Chosen Lands of Qyerath began to war against each other once again. Only this time, it was against themselves. The Origin Race was split, the people choosing great leaders to represent their worship. And the two great sides had formed as the second divine war was starting.

The Golden Order, the Gods who wished to force the sentient races that were created by them or worshipped them into the technological advancements necessary to bring back the Golden Age, or get as close to it as possible. Their leader was Zuthar, the appointed keeper of the world. Though his wife Rula had chosen to stay out of it. That is very ironic? What is?  The Goddess of Chaos, the Darkness, and the Stars themselves staying neutral in a war?  Or the Goddess of Chaos marrying the God of Order? Both? Heeheehee I suppose you are right!

Now the second side, the New Order. Led by the Goddess Greyoll, the Mother of Dragons had appointed a few Gods as her generals in the war. The Twins of the Ocean and Hearth, who had ascended in the last war when the God of the Depths and the God of Fire had been killed. Astrea, Goddess of the Hearth ascended and took over as the new Goddess of Fire, and her twin, Irall ascended too into the Goddess of the seas! You could imagine Sarina’s joy when her first daughters went from Demigods to Gods themselves! You didn’t know they were Sarina’s kids? Well I just told you that eezzyee! Oh sorry for the weird laugh, this beak doesn’t fit laughter.

Now… The first Celestial War was called the Great Divide, but this one would have a much more brutal and simplistic name. The God Slaying War. Champions of the Gods armed with relics and as powerful of magic as could be stuffed into their bodies, fighting side by side against their own people who had allied with another God, and against other species… races? You can call them whatever. If they can breed together, it’s a race, right? Sorry easily distracted! The people were armed and fighting against each other because their Gods were enemies!

The God Killing War was at a bit of a standstill as each side threw champions at the other but neither wanted to risk actually taking to the world and risking the death of a God or Primal Beast. As no Primal Beast had died yet, as I mentioned before. Sky Render was the sole survivor of the Lost Ones and the almighty Bird didn’t want to join his companions in… wherever a God goes when they die! But that would change rather soon.

See, unlike the Great Gods, the Primal Beasts and other Gods do not have access to the Heavenly Realm. Instead the Primal Beasts made massive pocket realms of their own within their chosen places. Sky Render for example chose the highest mountain in the world, called Mount Seellanor, also known as the Tooth that joined the Heavens. Why that name? Well it looked like a giant tooth and it was so tall not many beings could even survive going up it! I believe that mountain was… 50,000 feet tall? Zuthar did cleave the top of it off during his battle with Sky Render though so it became a bit shorter!

Oh I said that out of order! Umm let me backtrack! Zuthar had a plan to eliminate the New Order, or get them to submit to his will. It would take a few things though. They needed to some how convince Greyoll to join their side, or make her back out of the war entirely. Nooot very bright if you ask me but war is war! And then the Golden Order Gods were going to hunt down the Primal Beasts one by one and kill them. As well as the Minor Gods that could not hide in the Heavens and were in places of worship down on Qyerath. Then they’d restock their power and go to war against the other Major Gods that didn’t side with them like Orthus Maul!

Who is Orthus? I didn’t say? Oh well he is the four-armed God of the Dwarves and Cyclops and… I forgot but I think there was one other race. He is the god of crafts, of business, of the forge, of inventions, of determination, of honesty, and surprisingly… Parties! He is a true Recckani actually! I met him once and he drank an entire pool of alcohol in a competition against his top worshipers! Three of them died from Alcohol poisoning though… but he turned them into gorgeous statues after to commemorate them! Anyways. Orthus Maul was one of the Major Gods who was on the side of the New Order. As well as Sarina and the Twins, but now onto the first actual death of a Primal Beast… That was a… Grkyesh how do I do the thing!? A wink! That’s it! The first Primal Beast to die… but she didn’t truly die! Oh I ruined it!!!

… Sorry for scaring you for a second! I am fine. I just lost my temper for a moment. I’m so bad at storytelling… I’m not? Ohh youuuuuu! Thank you! I’d mate with you if you wanted right now but then you might die or go insane… wait till I’m a human again though~.

Oh yeah the story! Where was I? OH!

So Zuthar and the Golden Order Gods and Champions were hunting for the Primal Beasts and Lesser Gods, as well as cooking up a secret plan. As Zuthar was furious that Rula refused to join the war, instead she was feasting on the Chaos and birthing strange monsters into the world to fill the darkest corners of Qyerath. Zuthar’s rage built… until he finally found the Black Serpent, the Great Devourer is another name for her. The Primal Beast of serpents, the Mother of the Lamia and various subtypes. The Great Devourer… Oh… I can’t remember her other name… oh that makes me sad… She was quite fun as well… Well. She had been cornered by Zuthar and a few of his strongest followers. Herringal and his wife Umaya, as well as several dozen Champions and thousands of loyal followers. The Lamia were fearsome fighters and could combo magic quite adeptly with their long tail attacks… but after a week of battle without being allowed to feast and regenerate. The Great Devourer was becoming exhausted. The entire coastline where they had fought had become shattered and fallen into the sea, and the Great Devourer of Qyerath was finally impaled by Zuthar’s golden blade. When the Black Serpent was pierced, two things happened. Across the world, the lamia felt something shatter within their bodies and many of them lost their magic, save a few of the Lamia Champions and the Melusine who were the most gifted with magic from the start of the Lamias. The Lamia felt as if a hole had been torn in their hearts… and their stomachs. Though I’ll bring that back later. The second thing that happened when the Great Devourer was slain… was her body transformed back into her Great Serpent form… and began to grow even bigger than before.

The Black Serpent’s body was thrown by Zuthar into the ocean off the destroyed coast of the continent Aramaxia… and as it grew bigger and bigger, her corpse already several thousand feet long kept growing even while dead… or perhaps you could say soulless? Her body still pulsed with life, but her spirit had gone… even Velex did not know where she went. Perhaps she entered the heaven that you believe in with the one true God?...

Back to happy war stuff!

Her body grew and grew until she truly had become a World Serpent, though finally… Mother Nature… heehee, in this case Sarina, took its course. With her body having risen out of the depths of the ocean and formed several mountainous islands and coves off the shore of Aramaxia. The Great Serpent’s body began to grow with new life. Her bones pulsed with life as her insides became like rock, huge trees and stuff sprouted from her back, and her tail became an absolutely beautiful cove to swim in!  I believe they now call her body Oroboros. No wait I got that wrong! They call her body the Siren Islands now! But after she died, the Lamia unconditionally surrendered and begged to take care of her body. And there they formed the small nation Oroboros, the endless serpent, as it would never die just like their Creator never truly died. Eventually that small nation would turn into one of the most fearsome assassin guilds in the world, but that is later! Just like the fracturing of the Lamia into the three great tribes!

But anyways, the Lamia were now out of the picture entirely. And the other Primal Beasts now knew what might happen to them if they were slain by Zuthar’s golden blade. So things were a bit scary now. Though the New Order had also had a win of their own. The God of Truth, Uruth, had been slain by the Twins so-

Was there a race of Truthers around the world that got hurt? He-hehe did they-what? EheeEHEEHHEEEEE! OH GOODNESS! I’M NOT BREATHING! THAT WAS SO FUNNY! Ohhhh forgive me. I couldn’t Hrrk~ Okay I’m done I’m sorry! No, Uruth did not have any children, though he did have many worshippers. Why was there a God of Truth if Orthus Maul was already a God of Truth? That is… huh… anyways!

So the God Killing War had slowed down a lot on the heavenly side. On the mortal side, the war was as bloody and ruthless as ever as Humans fought against Humans, Dragons slaughtered by the thousands whenever they appeared, Rula’s little beasties seemed to be getting stronger and stronger as the war went on, and the first Elven King was named! The city of Sylvhelm was made, the fortress of the Elves. And the Elves began to use all their magic to make the forest around them grow. Little did they know just how much it would grow! Though most of that wasn’t their fault rashasha! They did plant the seed of Rizzack, but they did not know it would turn into the colossal Sea of Trees!

But all that would change as three things would happen to destroy the century-long stalemate. A betrayal, love between heaven and earth, and the birth of an Apex predator…

Comments

It ends in a circle! Or technically a ring of them. The Black Serpent's body was dumped in a mostly straight line down the ruined coast off the west of Aramaxia. But her tail coiled on itself and as her body grew + decayed at the same time it formed a huuge lagoon that is surrounded by swirls of mini mountains, small islands, and rivers. But for the most part it's a long straight-ish line until the end. With parts of her massive spine having fallen into the ocean and making a small island rather or the large underground portion rather than the tall spires sticking out along the stomach! As for why it's called Oroboros. It's more due to their faith in the Primal Beast and how she never truly died. Even tho her body is nothing but a gargantuan skeleton miles long, her enormous bones still pulse with life and trees and mushrooms and all that grow on her. And those tragic but immensely powerful Lamia who become World Eaters even feel like a piece of the goddess is reborn inside them. Though it is pretty much just a mindless hunger and urge to grow, breed, and eat everything. But yeah. Her tail ends in a massive lagoon surrounded by rings of tail having made a big circle with broken loops around it to give the siren islands a very distinct waterway.

Oroboros better be a circular place.
