As Shu Yu entered the village, she noticed that Zhengdao Village had undergone some changes and appeared more attractive now.
"Ah Yu?" While she was still observing the changes, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
She turned around and indeed saw Auntie Fang, who was wearing an apron and still holding a rolling pin in her hand.
"Is it really you? I thought I was hearing things." Auntie Fang hurriedly walked up to her. "When did you arrive? How did you end up in Zhengdao Village?"
"It's a long story. I came here for some business and decided to visit you while I was at it. Auntie, have you been well? Has Xiyue's baby been born?" Shu Yu had been in correspondence with Fang Xiyue, and in her last letter, Xiyue had just announced her pregnancy. Calculating the months, the baby should be around three or four months old by now.
"We're all doing well, thanks to you. Ah Yue gave birth to a son, who looks a lot like Malu." Auntie Fang examined Shu Yu from head to toe. "You've become even more beautiful over the years. By the way, Ah Yue received your wedding invitation. Did you get married?"
Shu Yu then introduced her husband, Meng Yunzheng. "Yes, this is my husband."
Auntie Fang's eyes lit up when she saw him. This young man was exceptionally handsome, standing next to Shu Yu. They truly made a charming couple.
She heard that he was a scholar, but she didn't know if he had participated in this year's provincial examination or how he had performed.
Since Auntie Fang wasn't very familiar with Meng Yunzheng, she didn't want to pry, so she greeted him politely and shifted her attention to Zhao Xi.
A few years ago, Zhao Xi had lived in the village as Shu Yu's older brother and had even treated Fang Xiyue's father's injuries. The Fang family was quite grateful to him.
Later, when Shu Yu sent a letter explaining that Zhao Xi was not her real brother but was staying to help take care of her family, the villagers understood.
"I've seen County Princess Wen'an." As they were exchanging greetings, a unfamiliar voice came from behind them.
Everyone turned to see a slightly thin man standing there, bowing respectfully to Shu Yu.
Auntie Fang suddenly remembered that Shu Yu was now a county lady. She was about to join in the courtesy, but Shu Yu held her hand and said, "No need for formalities."
Steward Yu straightened up, his face displaying confusion. "I wonder if County Princess has come with important matters. If there's anything I can assist with, please don't hesitate to let me know."
"I came here for personal matters, and my visit to Zhengdao Village is just to see old friends. Steward Yu, you don't need to be concerned about me. However, I would like to stay in the mansion tonight, if that's convenient."
Steward Yu smiled and replied, "Of course, County Princess. I'll have some rooms prepared for you."
As he was about to leave, he looked at Auntie Fang and continued, "Since County Princess has come to visit old friends, I won't disturb you further. Please make yourselves at home, County Princess."
"Thank you." Shu Yu nodded, and Steward Yu left, granting Auntie Fang a day off before departing.
Auntie Fang was delighted and quickly put away her apron and rolling pin in the kitchen. Then she rushed back out. "Ah Yu, why don't you come to our house? Ah Yue is at home, and she'll be so happy to see you."
"All right."
The group left the mansion behind and followed Auntie Fang to the Fang family's house.
The carriage was left temporarily at the mansion, under someone's watchful eye.
