Outside the main hall, they saw Xia Yan standing at the door, along with a thug who was bound and gagged.

Inside the hall, it seemed like there were two more people, but they stood far away and weren't easy to identify.

Cheng Wenbao was about to take a closer look when he heard Xia Yan say, "Young Master Cheng, your sister, Miss Cheng, has quite the tactics. She actually bribed a thug to kidnap our lady. Shouldn't the Cheng family give us an explanation for this?"

Cheng Wenbao was stunned. A thug kidnapping their lady? He frowned and turned to look at Cheng Jiatong behind him.

Cheng Jiatong seemed a bit guilty but immediately denied it, "Kidnapping? I don't know what you're talking about. But speaking of explanations, what about the lady you mentioned? She's the one who disfigured my face like this."

She revealed half of her face, which indeed looked ghastly.

Cheng Wenbao knew that his little sister must have concealed some things, but at this point, he had to stand on her side. So, he raised his voice and said, "You can see for yourself; my sister is the victim here. Her face has been ruined like this. If the force had been any stronger, her appearance would have been permanently marred."

Xia Yan, however, just glanced at Cheng Jiatong and said, "From what I know, it was Miss Cheng who made the first move, right?"

"I didn't! I just said a few words to her. Even if you're a government official, you can't ignore right from wrong. We haven't even sought retribution for what she did, and now you people have come to the Cheng family, making false accusations. Do you really think the Cheng family is easy to bully?"

As Cheng Jiatong spoke, several servants stepped forward as if they were about to confront Xia Yan.

Amused, Xia Yan said, "Alright, since you deny it, let's go to the yamen and have the magistrate decide on this matter."
