Chapter 1843: So Many Relatives

Chapter 1843: So Many Relatives

Disregarding their disdain, everyone showed a keen interest in going into the mountains.

The Lu family used to venture into the mountains often. Even when Shu Rui was young, she would go into the mountains to gather wild vegetables.

However, it had been a couple of years since they had done that. Most of the family now lived in the town, and opportunities to go into the mountains were rare.

Since it was just an outing to the outskirts, with no real danger, they decided to head into the mountains. The old village chief had his grandson lead the way.

Only Lu Erbai stayed behind and engaged in conversation with the old village chief.

After talking with him, the old village chief gradually learned that the Lu family had not been prosperous a few years back. They had even faced severe hardships.

It was only when they found County Princess Lu, who had been wandering, that their lives started improving.

He had been wondering why the Lu family, with a county princess among them, had taken so long to seek sister Fang. Did they believe she had perished in the big flood?

Now he realized that the Lu family had been powerless and in dire straits themselves.

But as the saying goes, after the storm comes a rainbow. The Lu family was the perfect example of that, weren't they?

While they talked, the two elderly women in the house cried again.

It seemed as though they had countless things to share, and it wasn't until noon that Grandma Feng couldn't hold back anymore and knocked on the door. Regardless of how sorrowful and endless their conversation might be, one had to eat. Especially given their ages, they couldn't afford to go hungry.

The eyes of both elderly women were red, and their voices were hoarse when they emerged from the room.

Lu Erbai was a bit concerned. "Mother, Aunt, you've finally reunited. Please take care of yourselves."

Grandma Fang snapped out of her thoughts and looked at Lu Erbai. She hesitated before asking, "And who is this...?"

"This is my second son, Ah Yu's father. He and my third son accompanied me this time. Also, my three grandsons." Grandma Lu held her sister's hand and peered out, wondering, "Where are my Grandsons?"

"They went into the mountains. At this hour, they should be returning for lunch."

As soon as he finished speaking, noisy voices could be heard from outside.

Grandma Lu smiled. "They're back."

Grandma Fang looked somewhat anxious as she glanced outside. Indeed, she saw the three young boys running in excitedly. Their heads were sweaty, and as soon as they entered, they headed for water to drink.

Lu Sanzhu and Yuan Gui followed behind them, with their arms around each other's shoulders, seemingly in deep conversation. Yuan Gui's face was flushed red.

Grandma Fang spoke up, "That's Yuan Gui. I adopted him before the new year."

"That's him." Grandma Lu observed for a moment and saw that Yuan Gui seemed somewhat overwhelmed by Lu Sanzhu. She immediately stepped forward and gave his hand a firm pat. "Are you bullying him?"

Lu Sanzhu protested, "Mother, I'm not. Yuangui is from younger generation. How could I bully him as his elder? I was just telling him I'll find him a wife once we're back. He's feeling embarrassed."

Yuan Gui suddenly realized who was in front of him and hurriedly greeted respectfully.

Grandma Lu chuckled and said, "Ah Yu has told me about you. You're a good kid. If anyone bullies you, let me know. I'll intervene."

As they spoke, Grandma Lu introduced her son and grandsons to Grandma Fang.

Facing Grandma Fang, Lu Sanzhu restrained his previously careless demeanor, greeted her properly, and managed to earn a smile from her.

Grandma Fang looked at the relatives in front of her, her eyes moistening again.
