When Shu Yu returned to the county town, the sky had already darkened.

The people at the escort agency had all returned, so Shu Yu told Meng Pei about finding her paternal Grand aunt.

Earlier, the Lu family had asked Meng Pei to help find friends from all over the country to search for information about her paternal grand aunt. Now that they had found her, Shu Yu wanted to inform him right away.

Meng Pei was delighted, "This is great news. I can't believe that Aunt Fang is your paternal grand aunt and that she's been here in Chenggu County all these years. We almost missed her."

He had initially thought of waiting until things stabilized in the city before having someone check the official records in the government office to see if they could find a list of people who had fled from Dong'an Prefecture over thirty years ago.

Little did he know they would encounter her before they could even take action.

"The fate is truly incredible, Ah Yu. When do you plan to invite Aunt Fang over for a meal at our home? Let's make it lively."

Shu Yu smiled, "No rush. Grandma Fang just returned to Hedeng Village. She has a lot to do. When she's free, I'll bring her over."

"Alright, arrange it when the time comes."

Shu Yu nodded. Originally, she thought they would have to wait until Ah Yun returned to have that meal, but unexpectedly the next day, she encountered Yuan Gui who had come to the county town.

She had just returned from outside when she saw Yuan Gui standing at the entrance of the Meng family's escort agency, about to knock on the door.

Shu Yu called out to him, and he turned around and hurried over. His expression seemed much more relaxed compared to the day before.

"Do you have something you're looking for?" Shu Yu led him inside.

Yuan Gui rubbed his head, smiling somewhat foolishly and excitedly. "Miss Lu, um, I and Grandma Fang have decided to acknowledge each other as relatives."

Shu Yu raised an eyebrow, "That's great news. When is it happening?"

"The old village chief found an auspicious day. It's the day after tomorrow. Grandma Fang wanted me to come and let you know. She knows you're busy, but if you have the time, she hopes you can be present to witness it."

"For such an important matter, I'll definitely be there." Shu Yu agreed.

Yuan Gui was relieved, "Alright then, I'll take my leave."

He had barely walked into the front courtyard when he finished talking. Shu Yu asked, "Do you have anything else? Come in and have a drink of water."

"No need, I still have to go to the county government office." Yuan Gui said, "As you know, Miss Lu, I used to follow Jiang Kuanyu and jumped off the cliff. I've been hiding all this time, without even an official identity. Over in Dong'an Prefecture, they believed I was dead. Now that we're acknowledging each other as relatives, I need a proper identity. So, I want to go to the government office first and get this sorted."

Shu Yu was aware of Yuan Gui's situation, as was Xia Yi. Currently, the county government office was still under Xia Yi's management, so getting this done should be straightforward.

Yuan Gui continued, "And since I'm planning to return to Dong'an Prefecture with Grandma Fang, I'll need proper documentation. Otherwise, I'll be undocumented. I thought I might as well take care of everything this time and save us trouble later. Also, I'll request a couple of days off while I'm at it."

"A couple of days off?"

Yuan Gui nodded, "Grandma Fang mentioned that Miss Lu plans to return to Dong'an Prefecture after the New Year. I was thinking, for these two months, I could continue helping out at the government office to earn some money."

He was running low on funds, and he would need to support himself in Dong'an Prefecture and repay Doctor Mi for the medical expenses.

Although Grandma Fang and the Lu family were acknowledging each other, it wouldn't be appropriate for them to stay and live with the Lu family. He needed to earn more money before that.
