DevLog Frequency Poll
Added 2025-05-27 15:06:46 +0000 UTCHoly Sh*t! Another poll!
Alright, so about a month ago, I had a suggestion/request to do more frequent DevLogs (these are the text based reports that I drop in here about game progress-- not the CG teasers). Thus far, I spend the majority of my time actually working on the project. This has allowed me to up the quality of things but I also realize that sometimes there's a long stretch of time where it can be quiet around here because I'm super deep in the work zone and I can't multi-task.
I also realize that many indie creators don't have a great track record of being consistent and not abandoning their projects so I completely understand some of the anxiety. I value transparency so I want people to know that I'm almost always actively working on the project-- especially, if you're a newer fan of the game and you're still learning my release schedules. So I don't mind checking in more often if that's what people are looking for.
The strategy so far has been to get "chunks" of an update done and then come to the community when I have something to report and (more embarrassingly) when I realize that's it's been awhile since I checked in (I'm not great with time. I'll get into an argument with a friend about something I swear happened last month and they'll be like "bruh, that was before covid"). The good news is that me not paying attention to time also allows me some insanely long work days and stamina with almost zero burn out. But generally, I do sometimes forget to do DevLogs because I'm actively working on the project.
The suggestion was more frequent Devlogs-- even if there isn't much to report on. So do you want to see more frequent Devlogs and get more of an updated step-by-step on things or would you rather wait on chunks of information? Would more frequent Devlogs be annoying in your inbox or just get you complacent to messages from here?
If I did them more frequently, we'd probably be looking at somewhere around 2-4 times per month. So weekly or bi-weekly ish.
I'm looking for feedback.

2025-05-29 17:06:06 +0000 UTCyeah... i try. it's unbelievable how quickly time can get away when you're working on stuff like this. there's just so much to do and the list never gets any shorter-- it just gets longer

2025-05-29 17:05:46 +0000 UTCI personally don't need more updates on the progress of the game. But giving us a sign of life every now and then would probably quell some of the fears from your fans as you described.
