v0.18 Teaser04

sup.

So here's another teaser pic from the new update in progress. Hopefully you can see some of the image quality changes, specifically the light. This one wasn't the best from this set but it has the least amount of spoiler potential for now so I'm rolling with it just so you guys know things are still moving forward.

Enjoy :)

I'm terrified of the comparison because I agree with you. GoT fell apart. There was a huge build up for nothing and that's a concern I have here when you do something like this that really builds on itself. Endings can make or break something and given that I've never done this before, the whole thing continues to be intimidating to say the least. Yes, work is still being done. But yeah, i still worry and always worry about the quality. But that's been a good thing so far...i usually dislike all the updates until they come out. The last update was a perfect example. I though it was ok but now looking back I think there was really some amazing stuff done in that one and i'm proud of it. But i definitely didn't feel that way at the time because there's high expectations there. Yes, it's still coming though--despite everything that life has thrown at me in the past 6 months. I promise you I'm working on it. Thanks for the support. I never take it for granted :)

You are producing a great product. I will continue to support your project while you give us updates on your progress. Just need to know it is still happening. Patience is a virtue and this is something worth waiting for. We waited sooo long for the final season of GoT and it was sooooo disappointing! Take your time, mate. Make it good.

So I kinda had to rewrite this reply a few times because, while I sincerely appreciate the support--any support and the length of your support--, you kinda hurt my feelings when I feel like I've been pretty clear in the devlogs with what's going on and how serious I take the length between updates. Here's a recap off the top of my head, though if you didn't read any of the devlogs: 1. covid fundamentally changing the way business is running. Find something that hasn't been delayed this year 2. I work in the healthcare industry. My regular job, which already took around 50 hours of work per week has doubled. Previous updates were accomplished by me working a minimum of 90 hours per week on regular job and game dev combined. I'm hurting right now on my workload, man.i've been running on empty for months 3. The game required a full re-read on my part because I havent' done it forever 4. A full outline had to be made from scratch because the end of the last update was the end of our current outline 5. Several state governments changed tax laws that required research into that to save supporters the maximum amount of money possible on their donations 6. Self study and a desire to further improve the game visuals so I've researched lighting and practiced those more as the preview images have hopefully shown 7. A desire to make the game continuously more immerse with more shots to give it a more cinematic feel so there's more pics like there was in the last update. there's currently 310 pics done. Those each take about 2 hours per picture to create so that's over 600 hours of time just on pictures so far and that's not counting any of the practice images. 8. as we move towards the end, several plot lines need to be tied up neatly and I've never written before so that's something that takes me longer than it would an experienced professional 9. to finish the other updates in the past, I typically just burn vacation time and spend my entire vacation at home in front of the computer writing and working on this. i'm trying not to do that right now because I'm already at home but i'll probably do it anyway because i'm so self-conscious about how long these take.

I still have v 0.17.2. Is that the most recent one? What's going on with the sudden slow lack of releases> I think, IIRC, I've been supporting the project for 17 months?
