DevLog Update: Good News!

Hey all,

So finally something tangible to share with the masses: I want to officially state that the rough draft for v0.9 is done and Hoooooly fuck. Here's the typical breakdown on the update since I can better track where I am now.

What to Expect

So without giving away too much, this update is fucking huge compared to past updates. In the past, most updates have averaged around 1,000 lines of code in Ren'Py (give or take). Currently, the rough draft of this update has clocked in at a little over 2,200 lines of code! In contrast to past updates, this one is a tad more linear than what you saw in the past. However, that translates into longer game time, overall. 

The game was previously divided into chapters for easy selection. Well, those chapters now have names to better jump or navigate where you want. In addition, all the previous content from v0.1 to v0.8.2 has now been categories under "Part1" of the game. So v0.9 will start with Part 2, beginning in Chapter 5. I tried one thing a bit different in this update with the linear gameplay: rather than random events, Part 2 now has the daily choices but they disappear once there's no more choices for that selection. This will speed things up and keep you from any annoying guessing. This was experimental and we'll see how it goes. Remember, I'm still new and deep down inside, this entire version of the game is a rough draft.

So I initially expected to have less CGs for this update than previous ones due to minimal clothing changes and the ability to reuse CGs. I spoke about this earlier in a past DevLog. Well, that shit went out the window and I ended up breaking my record for the most CGs ever...I think the past record was around 90 for one update. Well, v0.9 has 125 in-game right now. Soooo lot of new stuff and I'm surprised my computer didn't catch fucking fire.

What I Have Left to Do

Testing is the first priority, however, I was able to run through most of my rough draft once already so I'm hoping for a slow day tomorrow to get more testing done. It's not terrible but it needs some love still.

I already mentioned earlier that I've had some problems with my art studio program. I'm going to try and reinstall that later tonight and see if I can get it working. This has been the reason for the delay on the next Selfie as well as correcting some rendering issues with a ton of the CGs (mostly clothing poke through).

After that, I'll send out the game for others to test for feedback. If it doesn't suck, that should be about it.

Release ETA

In general, I'm hoping to have this out by next week. My true goal here is to actually make a conscious effort to get the update launched before Patreon charges for the next month.
