That's very interesting! Both ways can work but I think I prefer the anime version in this case. We got to learn about Vinland, slaves, how great Thors was and this scene hits hard because of all that we learned already.

2023-01-18 12:38:16 +0000 UTCSo I’ve found out recently from my sister who only read the manga that episode 7 and 8 are actually the first two chapters of the manga. The manga starts very differently with Thorfinn as he is now instead of him as a child, chapter 2 actually ends with the scene in this episode where Thorfinn tells the girl on the boat about Vinland and then we transition into a flashback of Thors in Iceland and how Thorfinn got to this point (aka what we saw in the first 6 episodes or so) I think both ways of telling the story works well enough but it’s kind of interesting to think about how a little change like that can make the way you experience these two episodes feel very different
