Taking 'reality' TV shows to the logical limit. Bottom line: the buck. Gee, Dillon, do you feel in a slightly similar situation?

2023-12-10 23:54:10 +0000 UTCIf you want to see something disturbing about children being exploited in TV/movies/print, you should check out the documentary Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields. It was recently released. I don’t know the extent to which young people know her today, but she was a mega-star back in the day. She was in a number of sexually explicit films when she was young. She was naked in the film Pretty Baby (1978) when she was 12 years old. She was doing sex scenes in Blue Lagoon (1980) and Endless Love (1981) when she was 14 and 15 years old, respectively. Endless Love was initially x-rated and they had to cut some of it to give it an R-rating. These weren’t obscure films. They were blockbuster hits, especially the latter two. She was on talk shows where grown men were asking her if she was a virgin. She was in very sexual Calvin Klein ads at 15. Her mother gave consent for all of these things. She even consented to Brooke being photographed for a pornographic magazine when she was 10-years-old! It wasn’t just Brooke that was a victim of all of this. She’s my age. When I was young, I wanted to be just like her, as did all of my friends. We saw her movies (it’s weird that no one thought twice about letting us watch those movies at our age). We saw her on the Tonight Show and we saw pictures of her dancing at Studio 54 when she was 14. Her Calvin Klein ads were in all the magazines we read. It’s really messed up what the media did to her and to young girls like me. BTW, If you don’t know about Studio 54, it was the most famous disco in the world where all of the famous people went in the late 70’s. It was known for drug use, especially cocaine, and for people having sex in the club. They even made a movie about it (called Studio 54).
