The reason there’s so much fan love for Men In Tights is a new generation that had never HEARD of Mel Brooks before they watched 1987’s Spaceballs (because Star Wars), when, frankly, 90’s Mel was starting to tragically lose his 70’s mojo. In the 70’s, though, Mel was a comedy genius, and if it takes “Oo, a satire on RACISM!” to get a humorlessky self-important generation to watch the 70’s-Mel gold of Blazing Saddles, and then move on to Young Frankenstein and the original ‘68 The Producers, at least it’s something.
