Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Thank you for this reaction, Dillon (and, once again, for your compliment on the choice - two times in a row now, I'm blushing). This is my favourite Jim Carrey film (among those where he is cast against type, as Lorne explained above). He did take a brief hiatus between 2016 and 2020, but returned to Hollywood recently as the comic villain Robotnik in Sonic The Hedgehog (and its sequel). I don't think he is involved in any other upcoming productions though. What happened to you at the beginning of the film? It looked like you were already tired and sleep-deprived when you sat down to watch the film, and I am concerned - please take care and don't over-exert yourself. Perhaps you were working overtime because this reaction was delayed. I understand and totally forgive you for not remembering the requestor. The audio and video also fell out of sync more and more as the film progressed (not to mention the subtitles), which may have also distracted you too much from a proper first-time watch experience that a superb film like this deserves. But never mind, you certainly got the main message of the film at the end - true love is powerful and enduring and futuristic medical procedures like selective memory erasing don't stand a chance against it, and even more so when the employees (Stan, Patrick, Mary) were so callous, incompetent, and unprofessional!

This film and "The Birdcage" rank as two of my favorites for the same reason. That being the two leads are cast wrong. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet are playing the opposite character to the the type they usually play. Winslet usually plays the buttoned down, reserved type and Carrey playing the out there, wild type. And here they each play the others role... and damn if it works. The same is true of Nathan Lane and Robin Williams in "The Birdcage"
