Going back and watching the reaction now.
It wasn't saying the word shark that was supposed to scare Rochelle. It was the fact that it's loud (even louder in a place like that) and sudden and would be startling for a lot of people. It's how it's said and where that startled her. The point of saying the word shark (instead of just making a loud sound) isn't because the word scares you, it's because to those watching, it makes you look stupid for being startled, because those around you will think as you did, like, you're dumb for being scared. I'm easily startled by loud sounds, so I get it. I've had it done to me before. It's thing.

Ohh, yay! A lot of people think this movie is cheesy or don't really like it, but I do. I'd rate it pretty much the way you did. I skipped to the end to see your thoughts first as I sometimes do, and I agree with everything you said at the end.
The acting was really good in this. Nancy is a horrible person, but the actress was incredible. Her preference at the end in particular was fantastic.
I'd like to expand on what you said about herd or mob mentality. I've seen and known so called friends who are like what you said. Fine on their own, but they become asshats once they're around their group. My added thought is that I notice how often it's one person in the group that seems to make the rest of the group toxic. One person, or sometimes more than one. I've been part of groups, or been bullied by groups, who have one girl that seems to turn the group sour. A ring leader of sorts. In this case, it was Nancy. I think Racchel and Bonnie (Bonnie in particular) would have been nice people on their own, but Nancy infuenceed them to the point where they turned into bullies. Or they let themselves be influenced by her, either because they were too afraid of her or too desperate to belong to speak out or fight her.
I also know that sometimes the worst bully in the group is the way she or he is because of the parents. A good example of a kid who is bad because of his parent is Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. He was a bully, but he was only as mean as he was because his father made him that way and he was too young to know how to get out from under him or see how terrible his influence was. I think Nancy became the way she was because when your homelife sucks the way hers does, you have to put on an armor and become tough, and for her, that toughness turned into cruelty. It went too far.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thanks for reacting to this one, Dillon!
