Oh btw i like your haircut!

I've finally been able to watch your reaction. Im glad you enjoyed it so much. I knew your love for the first one goes deep and i wouldnt have requested it if i didnt think it was a good film and would ruin your Lion King experience. I liked your reaction and i've got to say, even if the music in the first one is really good and nostalgic, some songs from this film belong to my favourite Disney songs playlist. They are really good and, just like you said, soul touching <3. Looking forward to watch Tarzan next !

But lol I also agree about the mothers in Disney - what is it about killing off all the mothers! 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Huh you know that’s so interesting - I never imagined it was giving a mixed message - I always took it to be like added messages and all haha! Like the fact that Simba felt betrayed by Kovu, (to be fair there was a lot of evidence there) I feel that because the audience already knew that it wasn’t Kovu - we can see that even the best people can be mistaken and can get it wrong. And I think it’s also a lesson in anger - not to make such big decisions when you are angry! (Although we do get a kickass song) Simba exiled him in anger but it was obviously the wrong choice. Also lessons in facing problems, Kovu gives the option of running off, but Kiara shows that just because something is difficult doesn’t mean we should run from it. Then at the end - Simba apologises! And I think that is powerful - that people (parents) should be able to admit their mistakes and own up to them and then move on as a family. I don’t know I think there’s a lot of good lessons from this one! Hahah!

Oh I adore the soundtrack of this movie so much! Although Nala and Simba definitely don’t have the same mothers - I guess it’s better just to gloss over who the dads are for most of them! Like Kovu - all we know is that Scar isn’t his father… but then who is?? Like there’s a bit of a gap there including of if Scar chose him as the next leader… how come he’s so close in age to Kiara for example?! And obviously there are some things like - when did the pack become divided - kinda reinventing some plot points which were not there in the first film! But having said that I do truly adore this one! Like I said the music is just so good! He is not one of us and also Kiara’s song with Simba! Could listen to those songs on repeat all the time!

I wouldn't want to be a Disney princess with kids, though. 3/4 of the mothers in their entire animated film industry are DEAD before the opening credits finish rolling. ............now that I think about it I think Lion King was the first one to kill the dad (ON SCREEN TOO) instead of the mom. I do remember there was a lot of muttering and hand wringing because of the on-screen death of a parent character and then showing the body on the ground. They hadn't done that before, at least not with a "good" character

It gives me such a headache >.<

I feel that I should probably clarify the 'that's not teaching your kids' bit, after realizing that it might be taken in an ENTIRELY different way. So. Dillon I hope you didn't think I was referring to YOUR kids, and I'm sorry if it came off that way >< I tend to let my writing flow and not really think about things that might be taken out of context...I was aiming at the people who produce that stuff.

I know that comparing an animated film to actual animal behavior doesn't work because...it's an animated film. But they were either brother and sister or cousins, as there are only two male lions in the entire movie. If they aren't related by blood at all, then it has to be chalked up to artistic liberties....male lions do not accept cubs fathered by another male lion and kill them as quickly as possible to perpetuate their own bloodline. So Mufasa would have killed Nala and then when Mufasa got fratricided to death, Scar would have killed Simba. But that doesn't make a good Disney movie.

Simba carries Kiara by the scruff of her neck, which is supposed to be painless. It can’t be too comfortable getting your abdominal organs poked by sharp teeth in Kofu’s case. I never noticed this until now, but if any thought was put into it, it would be evidence that Kofu wasn’t being cared for properly. Simba carries Kiara the way he does so that he doesn’t hurt her.

Hey love your reactions. Simba and Nala are not brother and sister, in the first movie when we meet Nala for the first time she is "getting a bath" by her mom, we don't know who her dad is.

Also, some of the earliest direct-video Disney sequels took the quick and easy "They had a kid!" excuse for continuing the story from the previous film, but they had an ulterior motive for that: In "Lion King 2", "Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea", "Lady & the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure" and "101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure", it's not just that the classic Disney couples settled down and had kids, it's that their kids are feeling angsty and misunderstood, leaving the characters feeling as if they've been bad parents or said the wrong thing, when the sequel characters run away from home. The reason for this being, kids aren't the ones at the cash register buying direct-videos, PARENTS are. And Disney knows who they're selling to, in selling to gushy moms who always dreamed of being Ariel, Lady or Nala, by telling them that even the power of family won't save their troubled families unless they reach out to their inner Disney-fan to share with their kids. Remember, the family that's brand-loyal together stays together...

They have seen the whole series. And I agree. There are so many mixed messages to sort out, even for adults. Seems to be the way of the world now.

I cried, you cried: we are one.

This movie bugs me. It falls into that category of things that tries to teach small children not to form opinions about people and give them a chance and everybody is whoever the hell they want to be yadda yadda yadda we are one people in the circle of life or whatever. Simba sings a song to Kovu about how everybody is a part of the thing no matter who your parents were, and we don't judge you or blame you or anything like that......and then ten minutes later proceeds to be a judgemental asshole about how he KNEW he couldn't be trusted, CLEARLY he's evil and has the scar to prove it blibbity blibbity blibbity that song I sang earlier doesn't mean a goddamn thing and now I'm confusing the hell out of your chillllldren. Hakuna my tatas. I HAAATE those contradictory messages, and they're in SO MANY things marketed to children. "Don't judge a book by its cover." "Except do." That's not teaching your kids anything, it's sending them mixed messages and giving them social anxiety. Stoppit. Harry Potter is the other big one that does that but I'm not going to talk about THAT until you've seen the whole series.

Best Disney Sequel Ever!

Nala and Simba wasn't brother and sister they were best friends

Kacey Mcnatt

Oh, right, they "forgot" to tell us Scar had a girlfriend all along, nudge-nudge, wink-wink...
