At the end there I think Tanya had it right and in addition to Rachel trying to make something of herself I think it feels to her like Ross thinks his job is more important than Rachel's, that hers doesn't really matter. And wasn't it Ross that made Rachel wait ages for him on their first date whilst he worked late!

Go Tania! I respectfully disagree about Rachel there in the beginning. Like Alicia said, he really didn't listen to her, and communication is so important. Yes it was a sweet gesture but at the wrong time. It would've been sweet if she didn't say over and over again that she didn't have the time. I also would've been pissed if someone went against what I've said when I'm that stressed. Also compare coffee house Rachel to this Rachel. Like she said, this is the first time she is doing something that she cares about and is good at. It's important to her. He also interestingly didn't answer her at all when she said they maybe should take a break. Or hear her out when he heard Marks voice over the phone. I understand them both though, and it's just a series of unfortunate events. Imagine if he just got that picnic set up for when she got back from work instead like you said!
