I actually loved Amazing Spiderman when it came out too, a lot of ppl who disliked it were comparing it to Tobeys (which is fair cuz they had just been robbed of Spiderman 4 for this) and so they kinda just hated on it and wrote it off, but I adored the way they honed in on Spideys sass, which was always something that was missing with Tobey Maguire as Spiderman and personally I found Andrew Garfields origin story more compelling, I dont know if it was cuz they spent longer developing it or if it was Garfields acting, but it just hit harder for me.

Same... They're not my favorite Spider-man movies but I genuinely really enjoyed them :)

I'm just gonna say that I very much disagree with that statement since I very much unironically enjoy both of the Amazing Spider-Man movies. You're entitled to your opinion, but I completely disagree with it.

Emma stone has been my favourite actress since I watched La la land and I LOVE her as Gwen! Great reaction! I haven’t seen this movie in years so it was fun watching it along with you

A jog to the memory, Big D, we enjoyed Sally Fields in "Forrest Gump", too.

Upon reflection, I believe the difference between this and the earlier S-M series is gravity. Tobey's films had more tongue-in-cheek humor along with the serious stuff (more comic-booky) . The darker tone here was enhanced by our cast's obvious strengths. I'm a fan.

Yeah this film wasn’t well-received when it came out because everybody was still on Tobey/Sam Raimi Spider-Man high. They wanted Spider-Man 4 and Tobey back! They didn’t want a reboot and most of all they don’t want a new Peter Parker/Spider-Man aka Andrew Garfield. Even if they watched it they will compare it to Tobey’s trilogy and say it’s not up to par to it.
Another reason is that some spidey fans think the writing isn’t that great especially for TASM2 in terms of the villains and certain things. There are other fans who believe that Andrew’s Peter Parker is way too cool to be the “nerd/geek” Peter Parker. However, some do agree that Andrew’s Spider-Man quick wit, sarcastic banter, and mannerisms especially when he’s fighting or swinging is THE BEST.
But for me I think I really enjoyed TASM and TASM2 because it was more grounded and honestly just Andrew Garfield. He is such a GEM and actually a legit Spider-Man fan. You can feel his connection and genuineness to Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Even if the writing isn’t the best, Andrew’s acting really gave the two movies so much EXCITEMENT, HEART, PAIN, and REALNESS. It’s just a shame that he wasn’t given such grand movies and good writers like Tobey and Tom. But I’m glad now that people are starting to appreciate TASM and TASM2 as well as giving Andrew so much love and recognition. He definitely deserves TASM3! Give him TASM3!!

It WAS supposed to be Spider-Man 4, but Sony had so many meddling ideas (can’t use the Black Cat? Okay how about a female Vulture?)that Sam Raimi walked out, Tobey and Kirsten went with him, and Sony tried to prove they didn’t need Sam anyway.
At the time, the only improvement was that they finally gave Garfield Spider-Man’s trademark snarky sarcasm, which the Raimi movies forgot, and the wrist web shooter from the comics—But since the Holland MCU movies remembered it too, there’s not much reason to watch the Amazings. (Except, of course, “Oh, you have to know this before No Way Home!”, and, unfortunately, the rotten Amazing 2 gets so many jokes in the NWH script, you probably have to know THAT one, too.)

I've come to appreciate this film more with time. It definitely had a lot going for it and Andrew and Emma gave amazing performances. I've only recently realized how well the "great power, great responsibility" was executed in this film that's different from other versions of the story.

This movie really doesn't get the credit it deserves. When it came out, people decided to hate it before they even watched it, and that was mostly because they wanted to see Spider-Man 4 instead of a reboot, and I will admit, I was nearly one of those people. But then I actually watched it and realised...you know what? This movie is freaking awesome!
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone did an (pun totally intended) amazing performance for this movie, and fun fact: they were were actually dating when they filmed these movies, which might be why they have so much romantic chemistry with each other onscreen.
