-Saiyan Conqueror Quest Patron Epilogue XIII-
-AGE 755, PLANET TATSU-
“Alright, the two of you are almost to the drop zone now.” Daiko says to you and presumably your twin sister both into your scouters, each of you sitting in your Attack Pods awaiting the drop. “Brace yourselves for the drop in three, two, one...”
You then hear a metallic clang, feeling the ground beneath your little space pod disappear. You feel the ship drop out of the air, clutching the armrests and bracing yourself before the ship crashes to the ground. For a moment you feel weightless, just before the pod crashes hard to the ground. You watch in wonder as the padded sides of the pod expand out a bit from the force of the landing, no doubt to help cushion you should you land at a bad angle. But as they start to deflate and shrink back to their usual size, you have to wonder how Daddy ever fit in one of these? Much less Nappa, whose ever bigger. How did he ever fit into one of these?
“Good luck you two. Remember the mission, stick to it and everything should work out.” Daiko calls over your scouter as you press the open door button, then adds. “And if you need anything, we're here too. But, try not to rely on us too much. This is a training exercise, after all.”
“We've got this!” your twin Kayle says excitedly, confirming for you that she's also in the call.
“She's right, you won't have to worry about a thing!” you add in, emerging from the pod and meeting your sister's gaze. You are Maz, non-identical twin of your sister Kayle, son of the strongest Super Saiyans ever, and right now on a planet named after your grandfather. You have vague memories of your time with him, but from what you do remember is his ki, his presence always felt warm and welcoming. Quite unlike the planet he's been named after, a harsh alien world. But as you look over at your sister, you suddenly see something coming up over the edge of the crater your entrance had made. So you immediately point it out, gesturing towards the bug creature and firing a Death Beam from your extended fingertip while calling out. “Behind you!”
Kayle, seeing what you're doing leans aside to dodge but then freezes, looking over your own shoulder. You know what that means, not moving as your sister raises her own hand. Your beam pierces straight through the insect's head as it crests the ridge, the creature dropping flat and sliding down into the crater. But as it does, three more heads pop up and over the edge. Your sister then fires, you hearing the same zap as she fries one from somewhere behind you. But at seeing their fellow insect dead, the rest immediately charge.
“Uhh, sis? There's a LOT coming down.” you say, firing another quick three beams and splitting three more. But for each one you shoot, another two heads pop up over the ridge.
“There's even more behind you.” she says, you body nodding to each other. Instead of shooting past each other you both immediately taking off up into the air. You both fly just past each other, then press your backs together, making sure nothing can sneak up on you. Then, spreading your fingers wide, you start unleashing your Scatter Beams Daddy taught you with a shout. The two of you fire down on the insects, killing a couple dozen before they realize that you two aren't a free meal that crash landed. “Yeah, you better run!”
“That wasn't so hard.” you comment to your sister, flying back down to the drop pod. You grab the first of the bug bodies, lifting it up overhead before pitching it out of the crater with a grunt. Your sister drops down and does the same, the two of you clearing out the crater in under a minute. Leaving you both with a conundrum. “So... What do you think we should do with them?”
“Hrmmm. Oh, I know!” your sister says, diving back into hers. A moment later she comes out with the remote Daiko'd shown you, pressing the button on the remote to close the pod back up. It does so, sealing with a hiss as she grins at you. “Let's bury them here.”
“But how will we know where they are if we bury them?” you ask her, confused. You like the idea, but you don't want to lose Mr. Daiko's spacepods. That'd be kinda mean.
“I know! We can mark the spot with a big X, just like in that story!” she says, reminding you of the story about pirates burying treasure that Ace had told you last time at Auntie Towa's place.
“That's a great idea!” you reply, rushing inside your own pod to find the remote. It is in the under seat compartment just like he said it would be, you emerging holding it triumphantly overhead before pressing the button. It seals with another pressurized hiss, you and your sister sharing a grin before splitting up, going to different sides of the crater. And with little effort start tearing it apart, throwing the dirt behind you towards the two space pods.
-Minutes later-
“Phew! Moving dirt's hard work!” you say, slumping down on the ground and sighing out, your arms already starting to ache. “What did Mr. Daiko say the gravity was again?”
“The same as back home, twice the old Planet Vegeta Daddy and Momma talk about sometimes.” your sister says, flopping down beside you. “But this dirt is really heavy.”
“Oh yeah! Before we forget, we gotta make the X.” you say, placing your hands beside your head and flipping back up to your feet before kicking off the ground. You look down at the dirt mound, which now looks like a small mountain and wonder if you REALLY need to put the X on it. But looking around, you realize all the ground looks the same, and that it would be for the best. “C'mon, let's do it.”
“Right!” your sister calls, already on her way up as well. Once she's flying up beside you, the two of you stretch out a hand towards the ground, firing twin beams of energy down. With ease you both mark out a giant X on top of the mound, large enough that you couldn't miss it from the air. And with that done, you end the beams and press your scouters, pulling up the mission. “Where to next?”
“It says....” you say, looking it over and pulling up the map function. “There! That's where we're going!”
“Where's that?” she asks, you remember then that she can't see your scouter.
“Oh, right. It's saying that the village we gotta go clear out is that way!” you say, pointing over towards the direction your scouter is pointing you in. “Wanna head on over?”
“Sure. I don't think those bugs gonna bother the pods now.” your sister says, the two of you taking off. You both fly over the barren alien world, watching the bugs drinking the blood of the big green fuzzy worm monsters, then the monsters rising up and eating the bugs. You also see those green monsters they made in the lab flying down on the bugs, cutting several down and scattering the rest before they grab their bodies in their claws, flying off towards your left. “Wow. They're a lot scarier seeing them, you know, really real.”
“Yeah. But those big bad bugs won't scare us!” you declare, trying to encourage your sister. Who giggles as you hold your arms up, which makes you smile. Your scouter then beeps, you turning your attention back down only to see the village at the last moment as you fly past. “Oops, we just missed it!”
“Wait, what?” she says, you both stopping and turning around to look down. Below there are several towers of what look like stacked rocks, the two of you lowering yourselves down towards them. As you get closer, they appear to be hollowed out, you seeing small windows carved out into the sides. “Woah. Momma an' Daddy an' Grandpa lived in houses like this?”
“Hey, come look at this!” you call out, having flown over and are peering into one. “Look at those!”
Your sister flies over, you moving to let her peer into the window to see what you'd seen. In the room are large piles of something, dozens on dozens of ball-like dark orbs gathered in the corners of the room.
“What are those?” she asks, then you see her eyes widen as she turns and suddenly starts whispering. “Maz! Those are eggs!”
“Eggs?” you ask, starting to feel hungry at the thought. But after thinking it over a second decide against it, dropping down to the ground out in the middle of the village. You and your sister wander around a bit, looking at the various buildings before you voice your wonder aloud. “Wonder which one looks like Daddy's?”
“Hrmmm, I dunno. Hey, look at this!” your sister calls, you turning and seeing a familiar symbol over the doorway of one home. “Isn't that King Vegeta's symbol?”
“I think so.” you reply, looking at the crude carving of the King's symbol over the doorway. “Let's take a look in here first.”
You both walk inside, the interior far dimmer than the outside. But then you notice something almost immediately: there are no stairs. Even with the height of the building, there aren't any staircases, or even ramps. Instead, there's just a hole in the far end of the roof where dim light is coming through. But in the far corner, furthest from any light is another pile of what look like more eggs.
“Look, its the monster eggs.” your sister whispers, pointing them out. “Mr. Dr. Daiko said we gotta clear them and the big green bugs all out.”
“Yeah, let's smash 'em.” you say, turning and sharing a grin with your sister before you both walk in. But as you do, one of the big green bugs flies down out of the ceiling hole. “Woah!”
“He's big!” your sister says, the creature hovering between you two and the eggs. “Or maybe she? It's defending the eggs, so is that the momma?”
“I dunno. But let's take it down!” you say, clenching your fists and transforming into a Super Saiyan with a flash of light.
“Yeah!” she replies, doing the same. And as the monster sees the light, it immediately charges you both. “Woah!”
“Yikes!” you shout, the two of you leaping in opposite directions as it flies in, swinging its blades at you both. You and your sister dodge, flipping and landing on opposite walls feet-first, staring at the monster between you. You have an idea, looking to your sister who meets your gaze. And even without your older brother and sister's twin powers, you can tell the both of you are thinking the same thing. And as one you both throw your arms out towards the monster, unleashing your ki with a shout. “HAAAAAA!”
“HYAAAAA!”
“KREEEEEE!” the beast screeches just before your attacks both hit it from opposite sides, your twin blasts consuming the creature. You and your sister keep up the attack for a dozen or so seconds before ending it, the lights from your attacks fading to show the burnt-up corpse fall to the ground.
“We got 'em!” your sister says excitedly, hopping down over to it and kicking its elbow. The arm falls to ash, disintegrating at the touch as the entire body gives out. “Awwww. I wanted to see how it tasted.”
“We'll try the next one.” you say to her, going over and patting her on the back a moment before turning back to the egg pile. “But first we gotta get these.”
'Right!” she says, re-excited as the two of you go about stomping all the little fist-sized eggs out. The squish with a satisfying pop each time, and by the time you are done you and your sister are giggling from the fun. “That was fun, let's go find more!”
“Yeah!” you exclaim, the two of you flying up to the next level where there are even more eggs. But no monster protecting them, the two of you stomping them out on this floor, then the third and final floor as well before moving on to the next building. Where you both repeat the process, smashing all the eggs again. However, there isn't a second big bug there, to both of your surprise. In fact, as you both go from building to building, you don't find another single big insect. And by the time you've cleared out the last building, the sun has begun to set, the sky getting dark. “Hey, sis. Where do you think we should stay?”
“Hrmm, I dunno. OH! I know!” she says excitedly, rushing over to one of the corners dry of the bug infestation. Where she grabs several thick pelts, each one green like the fur of the big local beast worm monsters. “Grab some of these, I got an idea!”
“Okay!” you reply, not sure what she's thinking but get infected by her enthusiasm. Gathering the materials, you rushoutside, only to see her setting them down by the giant pit of, well, something. You still aren't sure, but as your sister turns to it with her hand raised you have an idea. She fires a small blast of ki into it, igniting the pile. The material lights with ease, your sister turning and grinning.
“Just like Momma'd told me.” she says, you wonder what she's talking about. So, as you help her spread the thick furs about, the sky getting darker and the air getting a lot colder, she tells you of a story Momma'd told her. How she met Daddy when her village came under attack from little monsters with flying ships called Tuffles, how Daddy jumped in front of a missile and saved her life, and how the village had thrown a party once the bad buys were beaten away. Everyone had gathered around the center fire, cooking up a bunch of the Tuffles they'd killed to eat then partied into the night. But as the night settled down, she'd found Daddy and curled up beside him, pressing her back to his as she was too nervous to speak. And how he'd ruffled her hair like Daddy does for you all before covering her up, Momma falling asleep with him there.
By the time your sister's story is over, you both are tucked in as well, the warmth of the fires and the thick fur pelts keeping you both so warm you start to doze off. But as you start falling asleep, you start hearing a faint buzzing noise over the crackling fire. It sounds kinda familiar, but you're too warm and cozy to think about it too hard, laying back-to-back with your sister like how she described Momma and Daddy the first time they met. But as your eyes are closing, suddenly from the other side of the fire, you see it! Another of the giant sword-armed bug monsters, this one twice as tall as the one you'd fried earlier.
“KREEEEEEEE!!” it screeches, swinging its arms through the burning materials, scattering the flames before rushing through, directly at you and Kayle.
“WAAAAAAAH!!” you both scream in shock and panic, leaping back as the monster lunges for you both. Its razor-sharp blades gleam in the spreading firelight, the pelts having caught as is rushes, swinging a blade for each of you. You duck under yours, as it swung for your neck, while your sister jumps up and over the one aimed at her middle. Narrowly avoiding getting killed, the surprise wears off and is replaced with anger. How DARE this monster interrupt your sleep, trying to attack you both! You'll show it!
“HAAAAAAA!!” you scream, golden aura erupting around you. But as you transform, you hear Kayle shouting as well, feeling her power surge as well. But, with your golden auras further illuminating the area around you, you see that the one monster wasn't alone. More than two dozen of them have circled you two, blades gleaming in the light. And almost by instinct you and your sister go back-to-back, readying yourselves for another fight. One looking to be much, much tougher than the last couple. But, for some reason you're no longer afraid. In fact, you feel almost... Excited? You have a feeling that this fight is going to be really dangerous, but something inside you is actually looking forward to the challenge. “You ready?”
“Let's do it!” your sister shouts, sounding just as excited as you are as you both draw your Ki Blades, taking your stances just as Teacher's spirit taught you both. “HAAAAAAAA!!”
“HAAAAAAAA!!” you shout with her, the two of you blasting off towards the surrounding danger. And as you attack, flipping and spinning around the monsters as you cut them down, you feel a rush like nothing you've ever felt before. You could get used to this.
